To the Rav, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of 25 Tishrei, in which you share good news — the organization of a Chassidic gathering* on the occasion of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah* (the joy commemorating the water-drawing celebration in the Beis HaMikdash* during Chol HaMoed Sukkos*). You delivered words of encouragement before the elderly people around you.

May Hashem grant that you recognize the importance of all this. You have been chosen to be the channel conveying Chassidus* and its practices to those around you — to hundreds of Jews. Now, our Sages affirm that one who saves a single soul is considered as if he had preserved the entire world. How much more so in this case, since it concerns far more than a single person.

You have surely had the occasion to verify that success is granted to your endeavors. If you continue in this manner, in a pleasant way but with appropriate determination, your success will be even greater. May Hashem grant that this awaken in you an appetite for the domain of holiness, so that you develop such activities.

You inform me of your birthday. May Hashem grant that for many more years you devote yourself to spreading among those around you "the candle (which) is a mitzvah* and the Torah* (which) is a light," as well as the luminary of the Torah*, which is its inner dimension.

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מכ"ה תשרי, ובו הבשורה טובה מעריכת התועדות בשמחת בית השואבה ודברי התעוררות שאמר לפני אחב"י הזקנים והזקנות הנמצאים בסביבתו, ויה"ר אשר יכיר הוא בגודל הדבר שנבחר להיות צנור להביא עניני חסידות ומנהגי' בסביבה זו בתוככי מאות דבני ישראל, אשר אם על המקיים נפש אחת מישראל אמרו רז"ל שהוא כאילו קיים עולם מלא עאכו"כ וכו' ובטח כבר נוכח שמשפיעים הצלחה בפעולותיו, ובאם ימשיך בזה בדרכי נועם, אבל בתוקף המתאים, להבא, בודאי תגדל גם ההצלחה, ויה"ר שעל ידי זה יגדל בו התיאבון דקדושה להגדיל הפעולות.

ולהודעתו מיום הולדתו. הנה יה"ר שעוד רבות בשנים יזכה להתעסק להפיץ נר מצוה תורה אור ומאור שבתורה זוהי פנימיות התורה סביבו.
