Greetings and blessings,
I have duly received your letter from the eve of Shabbos*, with its contents. I enclose a collection whose content will surely serve you for what we have discussed on many occasions — for the words of encouragement.
The remarks I am about to make do not always have the desired effect. Nevertheless, I am obligated to tell you, at least briefly, that your effort to strengthen and develop the synagogue is not at all commensurate with what it should be. Now, this action on your part is necessary for your own good, not to mention that of the synagogue. Consequently, your way of approaching this matter must be radically changed.
Therefore, abandon all the calculations and all the objections raised against the members of the congregation. Observe the situation as it is and understand that this is your mission — both spiritual and material. If these members assist you in this regard, you must be grateful to them. On the other hand, if someone does not help you as much as you would have wished, this obviously in no way justifies your neglecting what concerns you personally just as much as it concerns these members.
Needless to say, there is no reason to settle accounts with others and to express your anger toward them. For all of this is truly your effort and not theirs. This point could be further elaborated.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מעש"ק עם המוסגר בו, ומוסג"פ הקובץ, אשר בטח יוכל לנצל תוכנו בהנוגע להענינים אודותם דברנו כמה פעמים בדברי התעוררות וכו'.
והנה אף שכנראה דברי דלקמן לא תמיד פועלים באותו הכיוון שאליו הנני מתכוין, אבל מוכרחני לאמר עכ"פ בקיצור, שרואה הנני שהתעסקותו בחיזוק והתפתחות בית הכנסת אינו כלל וכלל כפי דרישת הענין, ומוכרח הדבר לטובתו הפרטית מבלי לדבר אודות טובת הביהכ"נ כו' שישנה יחס זה מן הקצה אל הקצה, היינו שיניח כל החשבונות והטענות שיש לו להבע"ה וכו', ויביט על הענין לאמיתתו, היינו שזהו ענינו ברוחניות, וזהו ענינו בגשמיות, ואם עוזרים - הבעה"ב - לו בזה, הרי עליו להכיר תודה להם, ואם מי שהוא אינו עוזר לו כפי רצונו, הנה מובן שלא מפני זה יזניח ענין הנוגע לו ולב"ב שיחיו, ופשוט ג"כ שאין מקום לחשבון עם הזולת און פרין מיט עם ברוגז'ן, בשעה שהענין לא של הזולת אלא שלו בעצמו, ויש להאריך בזה כו"כ...
