Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from some time ago, which envisions the various possibilities for improving the situation of the good schools in your city in the pedagogical domain. However, you point out that the directors of these institutions are not fully pleased when they see that one intervenes in domains that concern them.

This concerns the well-being of the students, who are numerous. One must therefore find a pleasant and peaceful way to act, to the fullest extent possible, in order to improve the curriculum and the pedagogical methods. According to a well-known metaphor, a seemingly slight modification made to a seed can make a fundamental difference in the tree to which it will give rise. You will understand what this means.

Consequently, even if there is a school to which you feel more specifically attached, you must improve the situation of all those where you can carry out action. Thus, our Sages say, "one who has eaten garlic, as his breath attests, will eat more."

A certain person has proposed that students from the Yeshivah* here come to continue their studies with you. In such a case, as a general rule, the one making the request must submit a formal application to the current administration of this Yeshivah* here. This will more clearly oblige him to abide by the conditions that will be assigned to him. Consequently, he will reflect before making his proposal. It seems to me that some time ago, he did indeed contact the administration here.

Upon returning home, you surely conveyed some points of what was said here at the Chassidic gathering*. May Hashem grant that this have a concrete effect, as it is stated: "You shall fear Hashem and observe His mitzvos*, for this is the entire purpose of man."

במענה על מכתבו מכבר אודות האופנים השונים שיכולים לשפר מצב החינוך במוסדות הכשרים אשר במחנו הט', אלא שאין מנהלי המוסדות שבעים רצון כ"כ כשמתערבים בעניניהם.

והנה פשוט אשר כיון שטובת התלמידים-ות היא והם הרבים, צריך למצוא דרכי נועם ואופני שלום לעשות ככל האפשרי בהטבת תכנית הלימודים, אופני החינוך וכו, וכבר ידוע המשל שתיקון הנראה קל בשעת מעשה בגרעין לפעמים משנה האילן הגדל מהגרעין מן הקצה אל הקצה, והנמשל מובן. ומזה מובן ג"כ שמבלי הבט לאיזה מוסד חינוך דעתו נוטה יותר יש לשפר המצב בכל המוסדות שהשפעתו מגעת, וכמרז"ל מי שאכל שום וריחו נודף יאכל שום וכו'.

במה ששמע מפב"פ הצעה שיבואו איזה תלמידים מהישיבה דכאן ללמוד וכו', הרי בכלל בענינים כמו אלו צריך הנ"ל לפנות באופן רשמי להנהלה הרשמית כאן של המוסד, שאז מחייב זה אותו יותר לקיים כל התנאים שיותנו, ובמילא מתחלה יתבונן המציע מה להציע וכו', וכמדומה שמלפני זמן כבר בא בקישור דברים עם ההנהלה כאן.

בטח מסר בעתו בחזירתו הביתה נקודות מהמדובר בעת ההתועדות כאן, ויה"ר שהדברים יפעלו בהנוגע לפועל, כמ"ש את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור כי זה כל האדם.
