Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from Friday, the eve of Shabbos*, in which you tell me about the enrollment of the Talmud Torah* and the classes in your city. May Hashem grant you success in this matter and, in this way, in the dissemination of the wellsprings to the outside, which is the current imperative of this period. There are no words to describe the great merit of those who devote themselves to this activity.

You conclude your letter by recalling my request that a certain person study the teachings of Chabad*, and you say that you hope to be able to convey the message to him upon his return from the hospital. I am not satisfied with this, for:

A) A medicine must be used as quickly as possible, in order to hasten the recovery.

B) Concerning the study of Torah* in particular, each day that passes is lost, for this study cannot be made up, each moment receiving its own specific content.

C) You know and you observe concretely that each day is particular and that one confers merit upon one who is, by nature, propitious. In Kislev, especially near the 10th and the 19th, the success of the dissemination of the wellsprings is therefore much more considerable.

Consequently, I was also somewhat surprised to read that your wife, the Rebbetzin*, "promises to lend her support, with the help of Hashem" — which is a particularly tepid formulation, especially considering her origins, the influence she should have received, and which she has surely received, from her husband, who was trained in this matter at Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*.

Nevertheless, our Sages say that the action is essential, and not the study. I therefore wish to hope that all of this will not impede your action, which will conform to what it must be in order to avoid the obstacles, difficulties, and veils.

No doubt you will take advantage of 19 Kislev and the fifth light of Chanukah*. May Hashem grant you success.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מועש"ק, בו כותב אודות התחלת תו"ת והלימודים במחנו הט', ויה"ר שיצליחו בענין זה ועי"ז גם בהפצת המעיינות חוצה שהוא מענינים דיומא אילין וזכות כל המתעסקים בכגון דא אין די באר.

ומזה מובן ג"כ אשר סיום מכתבו שמה שכתבתי אודות פב"פ, שילמוד תורת חב"ד מקוה הוא למסור לו זה לאחר שיבוא מבית החולים, אין נראה בעיני: א)ענין של רפואה צריך להקדים להשתמש בו בכדי למהר הרפואה. ב) ענין של ת"ת בכלל הרי כל יומא ויומא הוא דבר האבוד, כיון שת"ת אין לה תשלומין כי כל רגע ורגע דיו שיפקיע את עצמו. ג) ידוע ורואים גם במוחש דיומא קגרים ומגלגלין זכות ליום זכאי, וכלן בימי כסלו, ובפרט בימים הקרובים דיו"ד וי"ט כסלו. ההצלחה בהפצת המעינות היא גדולה יותר.

בהמשך לזה תמהתי ג"כ קצת בנוסח כתבו בהנוגע לזוגתו הרבנית תחי' שהיא "מבטיחה לעזור בעזה"י" - נוסח פושר וביותר, ובפרט כשמביאין בחשבון צור מחצבתה, ההשפעה שהיתה צריכה לקבל (ובטח גם קבלה) מבעלה חניך תומכי תמימים בענינים אלו וכו' וכו'. אבל כיון שארז"ל לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה הרי רצוני לקוות שכל הנ"ל לא ימנע כלל בהמעשה בפועל שיעשה ככל הדרשו להעשות בכדי למעט המניעות ההעלמות וההסתרים.

בודאי ינצלו יום הי"ט כסלו ונר חמישי דחנוכה במיוחד והשי"ת יצליחם.
