To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Dovid (Rav D. Laufer, of Havana),

Greetings and blessings,

I have been told about you and informed that you participated in the Chassidic* gathering that took place, in its time, in the presence of the Rabbanim, distinguished Chassidim* who fear Hashem and devote themselves to communal needs — Rav Groner and Rav Zimmer, whom Hashem will grant a long life.

No doubt you do not content yourself with this and strengthen Judaism and disseminate it throughout the year. The days of Kislev, those of deliverance, are propitious for spreading "the candle (which) is a mitzvah* and the Torah* (which) is a light," as well as the luminary of the Torah*, which is its inner dimension, including to the outside.

The mitzvah* of Chanukah* alludes to this. To fulfill it, one must indeed place the lights "at the door of one's house, toward the outside." Furthermore, one does so at sunset, when darkness invades the world. It is then that one causes this light to shine. Moreover, the halachah* (decided according to the opinion of Beis Hillel) requires that these lights be kindled in increasing order.

If one truly desires it, one can find the means to accomplish all of this. Hashem will grant you success in this matter. He will give you the merit and the success to give good tidings regarding all that has been said.

With my blessing,
