To the Tzaddik*, Rav and Chassid*, of illustrious lineage, of virtuous conduct,

Rav Shimon Zeev (Rav S. Z. Rubin, of Yerushalayim; see Igros Kodesh, Letters #3121, 4091), shlita*,

Greetings and blessings,

I was pleased to receive your letter from this Friday, the eve of Shabbos*, and to read therein that you served as the prayer leader during the prayers of the propitious days of the month of Tishrei*, that you were able to recite these prayers with ease — which proves that they are answered, as our holy Torah* specifies. Furthermore, all that pertains to Tishrei* was made accessible to all the members of your community, which also has an impact on the entire people of Israel, since Jews share a collective responsibility.

The luminous day of liberation, 19 Kislev, is approaching. It is on this date that "He liberated our soul in peace," that "the light and vitality of our souls were given to us." It is also the Rosh Hashanah* of Chassidus*, bequeathed to us by the Alter Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, which is the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov* (this paragraph is based on the explanations given by the Rebbe Rashab* regarding 19 Kislev).

May Hashem therefore grant that it be, in this domain, as with what you related previously, and in the terms of the master, my father-in-law, the Rebbe — that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year in the study of Chassidus* and in its practices. You will receive therein a general blessing for the entire year, according to the terms of the Rebbe Rashab*, father of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in his well-known letter, which is reproduced at the beginning of the HaYom Yom* calendar and also in the introduction of Kuntres Umayan.

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מעש"ק ולקרות בו אשר היתה תפלת כת"ר בהתפללו כשליח צבור בימי הרצון דחדש תשרי, שגורה בפיו, שהרי זה סימן טוב שמתקבלת היא, וכפסק תורתנו הק' והמשיכו כל עניני תשרי לכל המתפללים, ונוסף לזה הרי הוא נוגע לכללות ישראל, וכמרז"ל כל ישראל ערבים זב"ז.

וכיון שממשמש ובא יום הבהיר ויום הגאולה י"ט כסלו, אשר פדה בשלום נפשנו ואור וחיות נפשנו ניתן לנו, והוא גם כן ראש השנה לדא"ח אשר הנחילנו אדמו"ר הזקן זצוקללה"ה נבג"ם זי"ע, והיא היא תורת הבעש"ט, הרי יה"ר שגם בזה יהי' כאמור לעיל, ובלשון הרב הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, לשנה טובה בלימוד החסידות ודרכי החסידות, ותהי' ההמשכה כללית על כללות השנה (יעויין לשון כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב אביו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר במכתבו הידוע, הועתק בלוח היום יום בתחלתו, וכן במבוא לקונטרס ומעין).
