Fourth day of Chanukah*
Brooklyn
Greetings and blessings,
I was pleased to receive your letter, in which you describe your study of the revealed dimension of the Torah* and of Chassidus*. No doubt you put into practice the ruling of our holy Torah*, according to which one ascends in matters of holiness*. If one acts in this direction, through all of one's efforts, one indeed achieves success.
No doubt you are permeated with the awareness that you are going to Montreal* to provide a good example of what a student of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* should be. This example is not limited to the time of study and prayer*, to scrupulous adherence to the yeshivah's* schedule. It also consists of being a living illustration of the conduct one must adopt when one is not studying and not praying.
Chassidus* explains in what manner a servant serves his master, even if the latter is a being of flesh and blood. How much more so is this the case when it concerns the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He. This service must be evident throughout the entire day, including during sleep.
It is also said in this regard, as our Sages* emphasize, that effort is crowned with success. And nothing can withstand the will.
With blessing for success in studying the Torah* with awe of Heaven, in fulfilling the mitzvos*, particularly that of prayer*, in the finest manner,
