Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 26 Kislev*, with its enclosure.

I am surprised that in all your correspondence, you make no mention of your positive actions and those of your wife regarding Chassidus*, its customs and practices. I am referring, quite simply, to your participation in the public classes in the revealed dimension of the Torah* and in Chassidus*, as well as in the activities of Chabad*, in the proper manner — your efforts to spread the wellsprings* outward.

The mitzvah* of "You shall love your fellow as yourself," the giving of tzedakah*, including in its spiritual form, applies to you as well, and to your wife. Even if you consider that you lack the means for this, that it is impossible, you should know that nothing can withstand the will.

Moreover, reflect upon the statement of our Sages* that the poor person — in this case, the one who receives this spiritual tzedakah* — does far more for the giver than the giver does for him. All of this is therefore for your own benefit, physical and spiritual.

May Hashem* grant that at least from now on, you begin to take an interest in everything that has just been said. Moreover, I have spoken with you and your wife about this in person on multiple occasions. If you reflect on it now, you will be able, when the time comes, to carry out positive actions. May Hashem* grant that this happen as soon as possible.

I enclose the pamphlet of 19 Kislev*. You will surely make its content available to as many people as possible. The merit of the public depends on you.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ו כסלו עם המוסגר בו.

ולפלא שבכל מכתביו אינו מזכיר דבר ע"ד פעולותיו הטובות, שלו ושל זוגתו שיחיו, בהנוגע לחסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי', וכוונתי כפשוטה - השתתפותו בשיעורים הנלמדים ברבים בנגלה ובדא"ח, השתתפותו בפעולות חב"ד באופן המתאים, השתדלות להפצת המעיינות חוצה וכו'. והרי המצוה דואהבת לרעך כמוך, נתינת צדקה גם ברוחניות, אמורה גם בהנוגע לו ולזוגתו שיחיו, ולאחרי כל הביאורים שאין מקום ואין אפשרות, הרי אין לך דבר שעומד בפני הרצון. ובפרט כשיתבוננו במאמר רז"ל, יותר ממה כו' עני (שמקבל צדקה הרוחנית) עושה עם הבע"ב, היינו שכל הנ"ל הוא טובתם בגשמיות וברוחניות. ויה"ר שעכ"פ מכאן ולהבא יתחילו להתענין בהכתוב לעיל, ובפרט שדברתי עמו ועם זוגתו שיחיו בעל פה איזה פעמים עד"ז, ואם יתחילו עתה להתבונן, הרי במשך הזמן יבוא לפעולות טובות. ויה"ר שיהי' בהקדם.
