Igrot Kodesh · Letter 400 — Distribution of 18 Elul Fascicle and Power of Maaseh

By the grace of Hashem*,

20 Elul 5708,

To the distinguished Chassid*, Torah scholar who fears Hashem,

yeshiva student, Rav Y. Hitrik[1],

I greet you and bless you,

You will find enclosed the fascicle that my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita, asked to be published for 18 Elul*. It is certain that you will make it widely available. Moreover, the word Bevadai (certainly) is formed by the initials of the verse 'And David blessed Hashem,' as explained in the Siddur* of the Ari Zal*[2]. Furthermore, David corresponds to the Attribute of Royalty — consult on this matter the Mitzvah* of appointing a king as commented by the Tzemach Tzedek*.

Those who study this text will draw close to Hashem, the one and only Master of the world. You will therefore dedicate yourself to this distribution and bring us good news in concrete terms.

In this way, the words of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita, in the commentary he delivered this year on 18 Elul*, will be fulfilled: 'Concrete action (maaseh*) exists when it can be observed effectively. That is why action is so important. Its influence is felt even in the celestial spheres.'
