To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Dovid,

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 15 Kislev*, following a particularly long silence. You describe your activities for the Chabad* girls. No doubt you are reflecting, with all the necessary attention, on the points that need improvement, which you yourself mention, all the more so since, as your letter indicates, this stems from a lack of discernment and Chassidic warmth — which should be easily correctable in a village called Kfar Chabad*.

It is entirely clear that you did well to resume your study with this group after the interruption. Moreover, it is a pity that the interruption occurred. But this will surely be for the good. Young women in general, and those who immigrate from one country to another in particular — especially in these years of transition — are, of course, more vulnerable to crisis, Heaven forbid. All efforts and measures to save the situation are therefore positive.

It is impossible to define how great your merit is. You tell me that your letter was perhaps too long. It was, in reality, too short, for everything you describe in detail is still not sufficient, given the importance of all this.

You describe the activities of the Chabad* women in Kfar Chabad*, for themselves and, how much more so, for the young women. I am pleased. It would be good if, at the conclusion of a class or lecture, they pose questions, in order to attract them and arouse even greater interest in what was studied.

During such gatherings, it is possible that someone will ask an unusual question. One should not be distressed by this, for all beginnings are difficult. It may be a question that is undesirable — that is, for example, one that diminishes the power of our holy Torah* — but this will happen only in the rarest of cases, and perhaps not at all.

In any event, no doubt you will always find, on the spot, the appropriate words to dispel this negative impression or, if that is not possible, to eliminate the question and show that it does not arise. You must understand what I mean.

Hashem* will positively fulfill the wishes of your heart in the areas you describe, and you will convey good tidings about your increased activities among the Chabad* women and young women, with the appropriate enthusiasm and determination. May Hashem* grant you success.

לאחרי שתיקתו הכי ארוכה, נתקבל מכתבו מט"ו כסלו, בו כותב אודות פעולותיו בשטח בנות חב"ד, ובודאי מתבונן בעיון הדרוש איך לשפר הנקודות אודותן כותב אשר עדיין אינן כדבעי, ובפרט שכנראה ממכתבו זהו תלוי בחוסר הלחלוחית און חסידישע ווארימקייט, והרי דבר זה הי' צ"ל לפ"ע בקלות בכפר הנקרא כפר חב"ד. ומובן ופשוט שטוב עשה שגם לאחרי ההפסקה התחיל עוד הפעם ללמוד בקבוצה פלונית ואדרבה חבל על ההפסקה, אבל בטח גם זה יהי' לטובה, וכיון שנערות בכלל ונערות הבאות ממדינה אחת לחברתה, ביחוד שנים אלו הם שנות המעבר עלולות יותר למשבר ח"ו, הנה כל ההשתדלות וההתאמצות בשיפור המצב כדאיות הן, וגודל הזכות אין די באר, ומזה מובן ג"כ שמה שכותב שאולי האריך במכתבו יותר מדי, הנה אדרבה קיצר בו יותר מדי כי ככל שיכתוב באריכות עדיין אינו מספיק בערך חשיבות הענין.

נהניתי ממ"ש אודות הפעולות דנשי חב"ד בכפר חב"ד ובהנוגע אליהן ועאכו"כ בהנוגע להנערות, הנה מהנכון הוא שלאחרי שלומדים לפניהן ישתדל הלומד או המרציא שישאלו שאלות וכו' בכדי להמשיכן ולעניין אותן יותר בענינים הנלמדים בפרט.

ובפגישות אלו בכלל אפשר שיארע שמי שהוא ישאל שאלה יוצאת דופן, מובן שאין להתרשם מזה שהרי כל התחלות קשות, ואם אפילו מי שהוא ישאל ענין אינו רצוי, היינו מחליש התוקף בעניני תוה"ק וכיו"ב, הנה בודאי יהי' זה במיעוטא דמיעוטא ואולי גם זה לא, ובכ"א בודאי ימצאו תמיד על אתר האותיות המתאימות איך להעביר הרושם בלתי רצוי, ובאם אי אפשר עכ"פ אותיות המבטלות השערה ומציאותה, וד"ל.

השי"ת ימלא משאלות לבבו לטובה בענינים אודותם כותב ולבשר טוב מאשר מוסיף בפעולות האמורות לעיל בתוככי נשי ובנות חב"ד במרץ ובתוקף הדרושים, והשי"ת יצליחו.
