To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Chaim Zusha,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of the third day of Chanukah*, in which you describe, albeit very briefly, the Chassidishe farbrengen* of 19 Kislev* at Kfar Chabad*. It appears that the writing of such letters has become "a pot belonging to several partners" (each one relying on the others), in the highest possible sense. Therefore, you content yourself with a brief description, assuming that the others will provide the rest. I have already written to several Chassidim* that I prefer to receive the same news twice rather than not to hear of it at all (see letter no. 3971).

I was particularly pleased with your initiative to involve the students of the yeshivah* in the Chassidishe farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, the festival during which He redeemed our souls in peace, when the light and vitality of our souls were granted to us. Moreover, this farbrengen* took place within the premises of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*.

I trust that all those who are able to do so will maintain their contact with the participants in this farbrengen*, so that they preserve their motivation during the following days — and not only days, but also weeks and months. This sentiment will then also spread to their friends who did not participate. And it is known that effort is never in vain.

It would be good to send here a list of these participants, without their knowing. In this way, upon receiving letters from there, one can determine whether they come from one of them — and whether it is, consequently, a person already familiar with the context of Chassidus* — or, on the contrary, if the person is entirely new.

I was pleased to read, at the end of your letter, that you have planned a program of action for the days of Chanukah*. May Hashem* grant that you give me good tidings about this as well. But please provide all the necessary details.

שלום וברכה!

במענה על מכתבו מג' חנוכה, בו כותב, אף כי בקיצור נמרץ, בהנוגע להתועדות די"ט כסלו בכפר חב"ד, וכנראה שנעשה זה - הכתיבה - קדירה דבי שותפי ועוד בהידור, שכל אחד סומך על חבירו ובמילא כותב ראשי פרקים על יסוד זה. וכבר כתבתי לאחדים מאנ"ש שמובן שטוב יותר שתתקבל ידיעה אחת פעמיים - מאשר תחסר לגמרי.

נהניתי ביחוד מהשתדלותו לשתף תלמידי ישיבות בהתועדות דיום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, החג אשר פדה בשלום נפשנו ואור וחיות נפשנו ניתן לנו, ועוד יותר - שהי' זה בכותלי ישיבת תומכי תמימים. ותקותי חזקה, אשר ימשיכו - כל אחד השייך לזה - לעמוד בקישור עם אלו שהשתתפו בההתועדות, כדי שתומשך ההתעוררות בענייהם בהימים שלאחר זה, ולא רק ימים אלה שבועות וחדשים וכו', ובדרך ממילא תבוא ההתעוררות גם לחבריהם שלא השתתפו, וחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם.

ומה טוב שתושלח לכאן רשימת המשתתפים - בלי ידיעתם - בכדי לדעת כשמתקבלים מכתבים משם אם השתתף פב"פ, ובמילא מכיר הוא אין דער ארום פון חסידות עכ"פ, או שעדיין חדש הוא לגמרי...

נהניתי לקרות בסיום מכתבו שהכינו תכנית לפעולה בימי חנוכה, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב גם בזה, אלא שיהי' עוד בפרטיות הדרושה.
