Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 21 Kislev* some time ago, and my response has been delayed due to my many preoccupations.

Concerning the construction (of the dining hall of the vocational school; see letter no. 3919), you raise the possibility of building a large kitchen according to the original plan, but without plastering it and without fitting it out, in order to remain within the reduced subsidy that was granted. I am surprised by this, for I wrote clearly that the original plan must be carried out in its entirety, and that I will find the supplementary funding if there is no other solution — by asking the Chassidim* of the Holy Land to organize a specific fundraising campaign to raise this sum. I am certain that this will be arranged in the best manner. You will let me know by when this supplementary funding is needed. On my end, I will arrange for this campaign to be organized in sufficient time.

I am surprised that you mention the 19th of Kislev* — more precisely, the celebration that took place on that luminous day at the Kfar* (Kfar Chabad*) — in such a brief manner. You prefer to defer to others. I have already written to the Chassidim* that, due to our many sins, we receive in great number letters reporting everything that causes distress. Then, when there is joyous news, it becomes "the pot of the partners" (each one deferring to the other to communicate it). Immediately, everyone becomes humble and prefers to leave to his fellow the honor of writing the letter. You must understand what I mean.

מכתבו מכ"א כסלו זה מאיזה זמן שנתקבל ונתעכב המענה מגודל הטרדות.

בנוגע לבנין, אשר כ' כותב ע"ד הצעה לעשות מטבח גדול לפי תכנית הראשונה אבל בלי טיח ושיפורים כדי שיעשה במסגרת התקציב המצומצם, הנה לפלא בעיני הדבר כיון שכתבתי בפירוש לעשות כפי התכנית הראשונה במילואה ובאם אין עצה אחרת להשיג את הסכום החסר, אעורר את אנ"ש באה"ק ת"ו לעשות מגבית מיוחדת להרים הסכום החסר. ומובטחני שיתקנו הדבר באופן הכי טוב ויודיעני למתי נצרך הסכום הנוסף, ואשתדל לסדר הדבר מצדי בעוד מועד בהנוגע להמגבית.

לפלא שמקצר כל כך בהנוגע לי"ט כסלו, היינו חגיגת יום הבהיר זה בכפר, וסומך על אחרים, וכבר כתבתי לאנ"ש שי' שבעוונותינו הרבים מכתבים ע"ד ענינים מצערים מתקבלים למכביר, וכשישנה ידיעה משמחת נעשה הענין קדרה דבי שותפי, ולפתע כל אחד נעשה קטן בעיניו ומכבד את חברו בכתיבת מכתב זה וד"ל...
