To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Moshe (Rav M. Yemini of Yerushalayim*; see letters no. 3371 and 4152),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of the sixth day of Teves*.

You raise the matter of the date of the coming of Moshiach*. The most evident answer has already been given by our Sages, who say: "All the appointed times have passed, and the matter depends solely on teshuvah*." (See letter no. 4154 on this subject.) From this follows a practical implication — the obligation to know what the need of the moment is, namely the necessity for each person to redouble his ardor in order to achieve teshuvah* and to persuade those around him to do the same.

Indeed, the future Redemption* will not be followed by any exile, and therefore all the sparks of holiness must find their elevation. You should consult the explanation of all this, and of the distinction that can be made between the Redemption* that comes "in its time" and the one that is "hastened" (by reference to the verse: "In its time, I will hasten it"), in the Sha'arei Orah* of the Mitteler Rebbe*, beginning from page 173.

As you request, I will mention your name, that of your wife, and that of your daughter at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. As you state at the conclusion of your letter, you maintain the three studies that concern each individual, instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. These pertain to Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*, and are well known. In addition to this, you surely have a fixed time for studying Chassidus* in general. All of these studies will enable you to obtain the fulfillment of all your needs, material and spiritual.

הנה במ"ש אודות הקץ, אין לך קץ מגולה יותר ממרז"ל כלו כל הקצים ואין הדבר תלוי אלא בתשובה, ומזה גם נפק"מ למעשה לדעת צו השעה אשר על כל אחד ואחד להוסיף אומץ לתשובה ולהשפיע גם בסביבתו בזה, כיון שגאולה העתידה אין אחרי' גלות ח"ו, ולכן צריכים כל הניצוצות להתברר, ויעיין ביאור בזה ובחילוק דקץ דבעתה להקץ דאחישנה בספר שערי אורה לאדמו"ר האמצעי ע' קעג ואילך.

כבקשתו יזכירו אותו וזוגתו ובתם - שיחיו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ושמירת שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בחומש תהלים ותניא אודותם מסיים במכתבו, ובטח נוסף עליהם יש לו קביעות בלימוד תורת החסידות בכלל, תעמוד לו להמצטרך בגו"ר.
