To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Shmuel Abba (Rav Sh. A. Snieg of Munich; see letter no. 2255),

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 14 Teves*, which followed a particularly long silence. You announce good news — the Chassidic farbrengen* that took place on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, the festival during which "our soul was redeemed in peace," when "the light and vitality of our soul were granted to us."

Not only must the participants retain the impression of it, as you yourself write in your letter, but moreover, this impression must receive a practical application, connected to the observance of Torah* and mitzvos* in general and to what pertains to Chassidus* in particular — during all the days of the year.

Indeed, this festival is precisely called the Rosh Hashanah* (the "head of the year") of the teachings of Chassidus* and the Chassidic ways, just as the head carries within it the vitality of the limbs of the body and vivifies them.

With proper reflection, you will surely find the appropriate means to put all of this into practice. Hashem will grant you success, and your action in this domain will protect you, as well as your wife, the Rebbetzin*, may Hashem grant her long life. In this way, you will have better health, you will know good in all areas, and success in your rabbinical functions (literally: "to be the master of the place"). No doubt you will redouble your ardor for this mission in general, and in the education of children in particular. And you will surely make the proper effort regarding the school about which I wrote to you.

Ultimately, you will meet with success. And you know, moreover, what decision the Heavenly court reached following the self-sacrifice for the teaching of Chassidus* that was the Alter Rebbe's*, whose joy we celebrate (on 19 Kislev*). He proclaimed that in all matters pertaining to Torah*, the fear of Hashem, and proper conduct, those who are connected to him and follow his path would prevail.

The requests for blessings in your letter will be read, at an auspicious moment, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us.

לאחרי שתיקתו הכי ארוכה, נתקבל מכתבו מי"ד טבת, מבשר טוב ממהתועדות ביום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, החג אשר פדה בשלום נפשנו ואור וחיות נפשנו ניתן לנו, ובודאי הנה לא רק שנשאר רושם על האנשים ככתבו במכתבו אלא שהרושם יבוא בפועל בענינים של תורה ומצות בכלל, ובענינים של תורת החסידות בפרט בכל ימות השנה, שהרי בדיוק נקרא ראש השנה לתורת החסידות ודרכי החסידות, וכמו הראש שכולל בתוכו ונמשך ממנו חיות לכל אברי הגוף, ובודאי בהתבוננות הדרושה ימצא כת"ר אופנים המתאימים איך להביא את זה בפועל, והשי"ת יצליחם, אשר ההתעסקות בכל האמור תעמוד לו ולזוגתו הרבנית שתליט"א להטבת הבריאות ולטוב בכל והצלחה בעסקנותו בתור מרא דאתרא, ובודאי יוסיפו אומץ בהתעסקות בכלל ובהנוגע לחינוך הילדים ביחוד, ובלי ספק בהשתדלות המתאימה בהנוגע לבית הספר אודותיו כתבתי...

הנה סו"ס יצליחו, ובפרט שהרי ידוע פסק בי"ד של מעלה אשר בגלל המסירות נפש הלזו (של רבנו הזקן בעל השמחה) על תורת החסידות, פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה, אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.

הפ"נ המוסגרים במכתבו, יקראו בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
