I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 20 Shevat, in which you tell me of your state of mind, your lack of enthusiasm.

The solution in such a case is to intensify one's study of Chassidus*, which is called the soul of the Torah*, infusing light and vitality into everything that concerns a person. You will redouble your ardor to serve Hashem* joyfully. The holy Zohar*, Volume 2, page 184b, says that "one who has a luminous countenance draws down the celestial lights… The joy of a person arouses celestial joy." Please consult this text.

You ask me how to make use of your capabilities.

Please seek advice from the Chassidim* who are on the spot, who know you and are aware of what possibilities exist in your location. It has already been said that "the answer is obtained through many counselors."

I am surprised that you do not mention any study other than that imposed by the Yeshivah* program. Yet it is said: "The precepts of Hashem* are upright; they gladden the heart" — including in the material sense.

במענה על מכתבו מכ' שבט, בו כותב אודות מצב רוחו, שאין לו חיות כו' וכו'.

כבר ידועה העצה הידועה בכגון דא להוסיף בלימוד תורת החסידות הנקראת נשמתא דאורייתא ומוסיפה אור וחיות בכל עניני האדם ולהוסיף בהשתדלותו לעבודת השי"ת בשמחה דוקא, וכלשון זוה"ק (חלק ב' קפ"ד ב') אי איהו קיימא בנהירו דאנפין מתתא כדין הכי נהרין לי' מעילא כו' חדוא דבר נש משיך לגבי' חדוא אחרא עילאה, עיי"ש.

ובמ"ש במה ינצל כחותיו. -

יתייעץ עם אנ"ש הנימצאים על אתר ומכירים אותו ואת האפשרית שישנן במקומו, וכבר נאמר ותשועה ברוב יועץ...

לפלא שאינו מזכיר אודות לימוד נוסף על מה שמחוייב מצד סדרי הישיבה, והרי פקודי ד' ישרים משמחי לב גם לב הגשמי.
