To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Yisrael Abba (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 5 Sivan, which followed a long silence. The request for blessing it contained will be read at a propitious time near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us.

You discuss the organization of the various types of chassidic farbrengens*. Of course, you are right to say that there are several kinds. You should consult, on this subject, the Sefer HaSichos*, Summer 5700 (see note 2), page 34. It is, nevertheless, surprising that you cannot reach agreement to "restore the crown to its former place," in accordance with the expression of our Sages. The point is therefore not to reduce or eliminate the gatherings that currently exist, but rather to organize, in addition, chassidic farbrengens* in the manner in which they were conducted previously.

Now, everything depends solely on your will. You have sufficient time to do both. And one can verify that in this matter, as in every other domain, the more quickly one acts, the better — so as not to become accustomed to a situation in which this (see note 3) is no longer considered indispensable. And the "clever little one" (see note 4) is capable of multiplying explanations in this regard.

I am surprised that your deliberation on how to participate in the development of Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* in Melbourne is continuing for so long. Time lost can never be recovered, and I await good news of all this, as well as of your effective use of the time of the Giving of our Torah* (see note 5).

לאחרי שתיקתו הארוכה נתקבל מכתבו מה' סיון עם הפ"נ המוסגר בו שיקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובמ"ש אודות סדרי ההתועדות והסוגים שבזה... מובן שנכון מש"כ שכמה סוגים בהתועדות, ועיין ג"כ בספר השיחות קיץ ת"ש עמוד לד, אבל מה שפלא הוא שאין יכולים לתווך ביניהם ע"ד מרז"ל להחזיר העטרה ליושנה, היינו לא ע"י שיגרעו או יבטלו מהתועדות דעתה אלא שיערכו ג"כ התועדות מעין אותן שהיו מקודם, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונם, ודי זמן שיוכלו לעשות בזה וגם בזה, ורואים במוחש אשר בענינים אלו כמו ברוב הענינים ההקדם ישובח בכדי שלא יתרגלו להמצב שאפשר בלא זה, והקלוגינקער הרי עוד מוסיף הסברה.

לפלא שמתארך כ"כ הישוב הדעת אודות אופן השתתפותו בהרחבת אהלי יוסף יצחק אשר במעלבורן, והרי הזמן הוא אבדה שאינה חוזרת, ואחכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור וגם מניצול זמן מתן תורתנו באופן יעיל.
