To Mrs. Pradel (see note 1),

Blessings and greetings,

I have received news of the cornerstone-laying day for the school at Kfar Chabad* (see note 2). And I was particularly pleased to learn that you were present there and that you contributed to it. All Jews, "believers, children of believers," have faith in the fact that the essential aspect of a person is his soul, "a veritable part of the Divine" (see note 3). Now, this soul is eternal.

The purpose of the creation of man is the action he carries out in this world below. The connection that is established between a soul and an accomplishment in the world — especially if this accomplishment endures, bears fruit and the fruit of fruit — is indeed a victory over death, the greatest pleasure that can be provided to that soul. How much more so when this accomplishment takes place at the very location where the event occurred (see note 4).

I therefore have good hope that the Creator of the world, Who directs it, will bless you by granting you long days and good and pleasant years. You will see students, trained in Torah* and in a profession at these schools whose cornerstone you witnessed being laid — students who will be the pride of Israel, following the path traced by Simcha, may Hashem avenge his blood, a path to which he devoted his life.

Then the promise will be fulfilled: "They will awaken and rejoice, those who rest in the earth."

No doubt you have adopted work compatible with your state of health. Hashem will strengthen you, and you will derive much satisfaction from all your children.

With my blessing for long days and good years, as well as for good news of all this,

קבלתי הידיעות על דבר היום דהנחת אבן הפנה לבית ספר בכפר חב"ד, ונעם לי להוודע ביחוד אשר נוכחה והשתתפה בזה, כי הרי כל ישראל מאמינים בני מאמינים אשר העיקר באדם הוא נשמתו חלק אלקה ממעל ממש, ואשר הנשמה נצחית היא, וכיון שתכלית בריאת האדם עלי אדמות הוא לפעול בעולם גם בעולם הזה הרי כשמקשרים את הנשמה בפעולה בעולם ובפרט בפעולה ההולכת ונמשכת ומביאה פירות ופירי פירות, הרי זהו נצחון נגד המות והקורת רוח היותר גדולה שאפשר לגרום להנשמה, ובפרט כשנעשים הדברים באותו המקום אשר שם קרה המאורע, ותקותי חזקה אשר בורא עולם ומנהיגו יברכה באריכות ימים ושנים טובות ובעיני' תראה תלמידים חניכים מבתי הספר לתורה ולמלאכה אשר השתתפה בהנחת אבן הפנה תלמידים לשם ולתפארת לישראל, ממשיכים באותה הדרך אשר עלי' הלך בזה שמחה הי"ד ואשר לזה הקדיש את חייו,

עדי יקויים היעוד הקיצו ורננו שוכני עפר.

בודאי הסתדרה בעבודה מתאימה למצב בריאותה והשי"ת יחזקה ותקבל רוב נחת אמיתי מכל יו"ח שיחיו...
