I greet you and bless you.

I am responding to your letter of the 8th of Tammuz.

You ask me whether you should, this year as well, conduct an activity for the education of children (see note 1) during the vacations, within the framework of the Chabad youth association.

This is particularly advisable. Moreover, during the vacations it is easier to instill in children Torah, mitzvos*, and yiras Shamayim*, for they are not hampered by secular studies — this is self-evident.

Various texts specify the reward one receives (see note 2). In general, one obtains a mind and a heart a thousand times more refined. Even more, according to the well-known saying of the Baal Shem Tov* (see note 3), the love that the Creator of the world, Who directs it, has for every Jew and every Jewess is infinitely stronger than that of parents for their only child born to them in their old age. One can deduce from this the reward of one who acts in this way — who seeks the true good of a Jew or a Jewess by guiding them toward Torah and mitzvos.

You ask me about the possibility of seeking a good match. It is advisable for you to pursue this. The merit of your activity, described above, will protect you, so that you know success in this matter.

You are surely maintaining the three daily studies that concern everyone. These concern the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*, and are well known.

במענה על מכתבו מח' תמוז.

בשאלתו אם יעשה גם בשנה זו בחינוך ילדים בימי החופש מטעם צעירי אגו"ח.

נכון הדבר במאד מאד. ובפרט אשר בימי החופש אפשר להחדיר בהילדים עניני תורה ומצות ויראת שמים - בקל יותר, כיון שאין לימודי חול מבלבלים, וק"ל. וכבר שכרו מבואר בכמה מקומות. וכללותו, אשר נעשים מוחו ולבו זכים אלף פעמים ככה.

ובפרט ע"פ הפתגם הידוע של הבעש"ט אשר אהבתו של בורא עולם ומנהיגו לכל אחד ואחת מישראל היא באין ערוך גדולה מאהבת הורים לבן יחידם שנולד להם לעת זקנותם, שמזה מובן השכר הניתן להעוסק בזה והמשתדל בטוב האמיתי של בן ובת ישראל, היינו הדרכתם בדרך התורה והמצוה.

בשאלתו בהנוגע לשידוך, נכון הדבר שיתענין בזה. וזכות התעסקותו בהאמור בסעיף הנ"ל - יעמוד לו להצליח גם בזה.

בודאי שומר שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים.
