To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Asher (see note 1),

I greet you and bless you.

You discuss the different categories (see note 2) — the Tzaddik* who has good for him... In the simplest sense, the Beinoni*, the intermediate person, also possesses good or bad — that is, he is a Beinoni in his practice of Torah and mitzvos*, but knows, materially, good or bad.

You are correct in saying that this is so (see note 3). However, this is completely independent of his status, since he remains, in any case, a Beinoni. This is not the case for the Tzaddik and the Rasha*, regarding whom one might have thought that only a single category exists. It is for this reason that Moshe questioned only about the Tzaddik and the Rasha, as tractate Brachos 7a relates.

You are surely maintaining the three well-known daily studies concerning the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*.

With my blessing,

For the Rebbe Shlita*,

the secretary,

Notes:

(1) Rav Asher Dursht.

(2) Of divine service, cited in the first chapter of the Tanya.

(3) That the Beinoni can live in affluence or in poverty.
