Greetings and blessings,

I have not heard from you for a very long time, but I presume that an emissary fulfills the mission entrusted to him. And every person, every Jew, is indeed the emissary of the Heavenly Man, seated upon the Throne, charged with carrying out the mission defined by the Mishnah*: "I was created to serve my Creator."

For this, one must be in good health and whole, as the Rambam* specifies at the beginning of chapter 4 of the Laws of Character Traits. No doubt you will confirm clearly that this is indeed the case. For whenever verification is possible, one must not rely on a presumption.

For the time being, here is the subject of this letter. I received a letter from Rav Chaim Axelrod regarding the construction of a mikveh* in your city and for your community. He tells me that he approached you but did not receive a response. He provides no further details. I know neither your neighborhood nor the one who writes to me. I therefore intervene directly with you, and no doubt you will do everything that is proper (for the construction of this mikveh), according to the needs of the moment.

May Hashem grant you success.

May Hashem grant that Hashem, the Mikveh of Israel (Yirmiyahu 17:13), before Whom the children of Israel purify themselves — and these words about spiritual purity, in the most literal sense — bring about the purification of the daughters of Israel, but also of the sons of Israel, as stated in the Teshuvos Min HaShamayim* (Responsa from Heaven), chapter 5. The Rambam states, indeed, that ritual immersion for the purpose of purification was never abolished, especially in preparation for prayer, which everyone agrees is more readily answered through immersion, as the Rif* emphasizes regarding the students of Rabbi Yehudah, in chapter 3 of Tractate Berachos, in the name of Rav Hai Gaon*. All of this is also explained by the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe*, Parshas Tavo, page 43b.

It is in this way that one will hasten the true and complete Redemption, as stated by the Tossafos Yom Tov* at the end of Tractate Yoma and the Rambam at the end of the Laws of the Mikveh. And, as we have seen, the words of the Sages are precise. Thus, these days will be transformed into joy and gladness.

With my respects and blessing for success,
