To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Dovid (see note 1),

I greet you and bless you.

I was pleased to receive news of you from the young men who traveled to the Holy Land (see note 2), Messrs. Dalphin and Sand. I also received your letter of 25 Tammuz. May Hashem grant that always and every day you bring me good news, of a visible and tangible good.

Moreover, our Sages* say that there is no good but Torah*. You will therefore give me good news of your Torah study in general and of the study of Chassidus* in particular. What are you waiting for? The Sha'ar HaHakdamos* of Rabbi Chaim Vital explains at length that by reducing one's study of the inner dimension of Torah, one delays the Redemption*. Indeed, the Gaon of Vilna makes the same statement (see note 3) in his commentary on Mishlei*.

By disseminating this study within one's own "exterior" (see note 4), as well as in the exterior in the literal sense, one will bring about the coming of Moshiach*. May Hashem grant that you immediately set about this task, that you ensure that those around you follow your example. May Hashem grant you success.

I enclose a fascicle that has just been published. You will undoubtedly make it available to as many people as possible. The merit of all depends on it.
