Greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to your letter from this Friday, in which you mention one of those you have brought closer (see note 1). His fiancee is sometimes satisfied with the way he addresses her, whereas at other times, she is not at all.

The reason is no doubt the following. This fiance must observe more scrupulously the values of modesty and holiness. Likewise, it would be good for him to have his tefillin* checked. Every weekday, before the morning prayer, he will give a franc (see note 2) to tzedakah*. Every day as well, including Shabbos*, he will recite, after the prayer, at least one Psalm.

May Hashem grant that you announce good news to me of all this.

במענה על מכתבו מיום הששי, בו כותב אודות אחד מקרוביו אשר המשודכת שלו לפעמים מרוצה בדבורו עמה ולפעמים אינה מרוצה.

ובטח הסיבה היא שצריך המשודך להיות זהיר יותר בעניני צניעות וקדושה, וכן מהנכון שיבדקו את התפילין שלו, ושבכל יום חול לפני תפלת שחרית יפריש איזה פרנק לצדקה, ובכל יום ואפילו בשבת יאמר לאחר התפלה לפחות סימן אחד בספר תהלים, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
