Greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to your letter of 14 Tishrei*, in which you tell me that you considered the transfer from one Yeshivah* to the other as self-evident. This is why you did not consult the leadership of the Yeshivah* on this matter.

A teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, which applies to the students of the Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* and the Chabad* Yeshivos* in general, is well known. Everything that concerns them must be decided by the leadership of the Yeshivah*. One must therefore do what they say and consult them.

Indeed, these Yeshivos* do not limit themselves to satisfying what personally concerns the students or to a few specific aspects. Their purpose is to ensure that these students conform, in every respect, to the will of our masters, the founders of the Chabad* Yeshivos*, who direct them.

Thus, various Chassidic* texts explain the question of Moshe*, the faithful shepherd, king of Israel: "Where would I get meat (see note 1)?" Due to his immense loftiness, he had absolutely nothing to do with material meat. Despite this, he was the shepherd of all the children of Israel. All of their needs therefore had to be met through his intermediary. This is obvious.

In practical terms, you must now contact the leadership of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod (see note 2) and pose this question to them (see note 3). Obviously, you may present all the arguments and justifications. Then, you will comply with what you are told. However, you are already in Jerusalem. You will therefore not change your location before receiving a response from the leadership.

May Hashem grant that you strengthen your submission to Hashem, to the Torah*, to the mitzvos*, to the injunctions of our holy Torah*, as Chassidus* explains and illuminates. You will also intensify your study of Torah* and your practice of mitzvos*, in the best possible way.

במענה על מכתבו מי"ד תשרי, בו כותב שחשב לדבר פשוט המעבר מישיבה אחת לחברתה, ולכן לא שאל אודות זה את הנהלת הישיבה.

הנה מפורסמת הוראת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בנוגע לתלמידי ישיבות תומכי תמימים, ותלמידי ישיבות חב"ד בכלל, אשר כל עניניהם צריכים להתנהג ע"י הנהלת הישיבה, זאת אומרת ע"פ הוראת ושאלת פיהם, כיון שישיבות אלו כוונתם ומטרתם לא בענין פרטי של התלמידים או כמה ענינים פרטים, אלא לעשות את התלמיד בכל הענינים מתאים לרצון נשיאינו מייסדי ישיבות חב"ד ומנהליהם, והוא ע"ד המבואר בדא"ח בכ"מ במאמר משה רעיא מהימנא מלך ישראל, מאין לי בשר, שמפני גודל מדריגתו ומעלתו לא הי' שייך מצדו לעניני בשר גשמי, אבל להיותו רועה כל בני ישראל, הרי כל הצרכים שלהם צריכים להתמלאות דוקא על ידו, וק"ל.

ובהנוגע לפועל הרי עליו לפנות עתה להנהלת ישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד ובהנוגע לשאלה האמורה (ומובן שיכול להציע כל הנמוקים והטענות שלו), ולעשות כהוראות שיקבל אחרי זה, אבל כיון שכבר נמצא הוא בירושלים ת"ו, לא ישנה מקומו דעתה עד שיקבל מענה מהנהלה הנ"ל, ויהי רצון שיוסיף בקבלת עול מלכות שמים וקבלת עול תורה ומצות ציווי תורתנו הק' ועל פי המבואר ומואר בתורת החסידות, ויתוסף ג"כ בלימוד התורה ובקיום מצותי' בהידור.
