To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, of many accomplishments,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure, in due time, your telegram informing me of the beginning of studies in the holy Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* Lubavitch (see note 2), which you direct.

I was even more pleased to receive news of you through the Rav and chassid*, of many accomplishments, Rav Ch. M. A. Hadakov (see note 3). Indeed, you told him during a telephone conversation that the objective you had set for yourself — that of assembling three hundred students — has already been achieved.

Of course, I was particularly joyful about your final words. You said that you regret having limited yourself to three hundred, that you should have said five hundred. I therefore have good hope that you and your wife will recognize the considerable opportunities that are offered to you, to develop and expand the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of New Haven. Everything depends on your will. You have the capabilities, and they are only waiting to be utilized in the appropriate manner.

May Hashem grant that you soon realize that one cannot be content with five hundred students in a city like New Haven. One must rise very high, from one level to the next, especially since we have just entered the month of Kislev*, the month of the victory of the Alter Rebbe*, founder of Chabad and of all that concerns it.

Through his imprisonment and through the self-sacrifice he demonstrated on that occasion, he achieved victory Above and below. From that point on, the Heavenly Court ruled that in all matters concerning Torah*, the fear of Hashem, and good character traits, those who are connected to him and follow his path would prevail.

With blessing to you and your wife, that you derive great and sincere satisfaction from all your children, and that you give good news, always and every day,

בעתו נעם לי לקבל המברק שלו מהתחלת זמן הלימוד בישיבה הק' אחי תמימים ליובאוויטש אשר בהנהלתו, ותוספת נעימות הי' לי בשמעי הפ"ש ממנו ע"י הרה"ח רב פעלים כו' מוהרחמ"א שי' חדקוב, ותוכן דבורו בשיחה הטלפונית, אשר המטרה שהציג לו להשיג המספר דשלש מאות תלמידים כבר נתגשמה, ומובן שביחוד שמחתי לסיום דבריו אשר מתחרט שמתחלה דבר ע"ד שלש מאות, בה בשעה שצריך הי' לדבר ע"ד חמש מאות, אשר זה נותן לי התקוה שהוא וזוגתו שי' יכירו בהאפשריות הכי גדולה שניתנו להם להתפתחות והרחבת ישיבת אחי תמימים אשר בניו הייווען, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון, כי היכולת מן המוכן ומחכה שינצלו אותה ככל הדרוש.

ויה"ר אשר בקרוב יכירו שגם חמש מאות לא זהו התכלית בעיר כניו הייווען, ויש לעלות מדרגא לדרגא מעלה מעלה, ובפרט שנכנסנו זה עתה בחדש כסלו הוא חדש נצחון של אדמו"ר הזקן מייסד חב"ד ועניני' שבזכות המאסר והמס"נ שלו שנסתיים בנצחון למעלה ובנצחון למטה, פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.

בברכה לו ולזוגתו לרוב נחת אמיתי מכל יו"ח שיחיו ולבשו"ט תכה"י.
