To the great Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem, of extensive knowledge,
Rav Yosef (see note 1),
Greetings and blessings,
I have received the Divrei Yisachar / Divrei Yosef, and I thank you for it.
At the appropriate occasion, you will surely send the other books (see note 2) to the library near me. Indeed, I do not have them available. I thank you in advance.
As a token of friendship, and in accordance with the teaching of our Sages that "all arguments are negative, but those concerning the Torah* are good," I have written below some notes while quickly leafing through this book, within the time at my disposal. And, as our Sages say, peace prevails in the end (see note 3).
With my respects and blessing,
Beginning of the introduction of the Divrei Yosef: "During the night, Leah herself was Rachel": You will see the Taamei HaMitzvos of Rabbi Chaim Vital*, at Parshas* Teitzei, which refers to the prohibition of the price of the evil woman. In this case, the signs that Rachel transmitted to Leah were a part of her soul. That is why she herself was Rachel.
In this connection:
A) Regarding the signs and another woman, you should consult the Chessed L'Avraham, second source, stream, chapter 1, as well as the commentary of the Riva on the Torah* at this reference.
B) The Shevivei Nogah that you cite is found in the Pardes*, as indicated by the references. You should consult the lengthy explanation found at Gate 13.
End of the introduction: "The four stones": The Yalkut Shimoni, Iyov*, paragraph 899, cited by the Yalkut Reuveni at this reference, sees in this a reference to his four wives (see note 4).
This corresponds to the explanation that the twelve stones allude to the twelve tribes. Both commentaries emphasize that he had "a complete bed."
Beginning of the Divrei Yosef: "His conduct was not good. According to the Maggid*, this is a Rabbinic prohibition": One must consider that this is not the case only according to the Maggid*. For conduct that is "not good" is worse than a Rabbinic prohibition. It is a manner of acting that is not positive.
End of the Divrei Yosef: "The opinion of the Rambam* on wearing the priestly garments outside the time of the service": One may question this assertion, for the Rambam* states that the Kohen* is permitted to derive benefit from them even before the service of Hashem — except for the belt, which he is not permitted to wear, because it contains sha'atnez* (see note 5), according to Kelei HaMikdash, chapter 8, paragraphs 11 and 12.
You should consult the Tosafos Yeshanim on Tractate Yoma* 69a. Nevertheless, your explanation corresponds to what the Tosafos* state in Tractate Yoma*.
