To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 28 Cheshvan*.

I thank you for your comprehensive report, since, according to what you have found, all is well, in general and in particular.

May Hashem grant that the words you report, spoken at the chassidic* farbrengen*, exert their effect upon those who hear them and upon those who listen. Thus, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, recounted (see note 2) that he had seen a request for blessing from his father, the Rebbe Rashab*, for the purpose of preparing a chassidic* discourse (see note 3). Here is what he wrote: "May this have its effect upon me and upon those who listen to it."

It has already been noted many times at chassidic* farbrengens* that this is, of course, a request for blessing formulated by a leader of Yisrael*, so that one may wonder whether such conduct concerns other people. Nevertheless, this has been disseminated, and without question, those who are aware of it are therefore concerned.

How much more so in our case. Indeed, if the Rebbe requested such a blessing, a fortiori people like us must do so.

Surely a suitable program is being prepared to make proper use of the approaching festival days — the 10th and 19th of Kislev* (see note 4), and Chanukah*. May Hashem grant that you inform me of good news concerning all this.

אדמו"ר - מהורש"ב - כהכנה לאמירת מאמר, וזלה"ק שיפעול בי ובהשומעים, וכבר מלתי אמורה כ"פ בהתועדות, אשר אף שלכאורה כיון שזהו פ"נ של נשיא ישראל צ"ע אם הנהגה זו נוגע גם לאחרים, אבל כיון שנודעו הדברים ברבים בודאי גם לאלו ששמעו נוגע הענין, ובנדון דידן הרי אדרבה וק"ו, אם הנ"ל כתב פ"נ כאלו עאכו"כ אנשים כערכנו.

בודאי מכינים תכנית מתאימה לניצול ימי המועדים יו"ד י"ט כסלו וחנוכה הבע"ל באופן המתאים, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בזה.
