To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 23 Cheshvan*. I thank you for conveying good news, since you tell me that you and all your family are well. May the Creator of the world grant that it continue to be so in the future, and even more strongly, since our holy Torah* commands one to ascend in matters of holiness.

Commenting on the verse: "He tells His Words to Yaakov, His Statutes and His Judgments to Yisrael*," our Sages say that Hashem Himself fulfills what He asks of the Jewish people. And surely preparations are being made to celebrate the festivals, the days of deliverance, that are approaching for the good. One must take advantage of them to strengthen and develop the holy Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch institutions, in accordance with the demand and the need of the moment.

May Hashem grant you considerable success in this. And you know the statement of the Mitteler Rebbe*, according to which, because the Alter Rebbe* gave of himself for the teaching of Chassidus*, the Heavenly Court decided that in all matters concerning Torah*, the fear of Hashem, and good conduct, those connected to him and following in his footsteps would prevail.

P.S.: In keeping with the positive custom of previous years, you will surely distribute, in my name, Chanukah* gelt* to the deserving students, as last year (see note 2). It would be good to coordinate (see note 3) so that a uniform amount is given (see note 4) in all the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak schools in your country.

May Hashem grant that this too exert its full effect in all that concerns Torah*, mitzvos*, and the luminaire of the Torah* (see note 5).

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ג חשון, הנה ת"ח על הבשו"ט אשר השלום להם ולכל אשר אתם, כן יתן בורא עולם לימים יבואו, ועוד בתוספת כציווי תוה"ק דמעלין בקדש, וידוע דרז"ל עה"כ מגיד דבריו ליעקב חקיו ומשפטיו לישראל, שכל מה שהוא מצוה לישראל גם הוא עושה זה, ובודאי מתכוננים ג"כ לחוג המועדים וימי הגאולה הבאים לקראתנו לשלום ולנצלם לחיזוק ולהתפתחות מסודות הק' דאהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש מתאים לדרישת וגם הכרח השעה, ויהי רצון שגם זה יהי' בהצלחה מופלגה, וכידוע סיפור אדמו"ר האמצעי, אשר בגלל המסירת נפש הלזו - של אדמו"ר הזקן - על תורת החסידות, פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה, אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.

- בודאי כמנהג הטוב בשנים שעברו יחלק משמי מעות חנוכה לת' המתאימים וכדאשתקד. ומהנכון שיתדברו ביניהם שיהי' אותו הסכום בכל אהלי"י שבמדינתם.
