Greetings and blessings,

You have informed me that you are organizing a Melaveh Malkah*, the meal of King David, Moshiach*, at the conclusion of the upcoming Shabbos*. Here is my response.

These days of the month of Kislev* are propitious and favorable. It is a month of miracles, which includes the days of Chanukah*, the days of the completion of the Sanctuary and the foundation of the Second Beis HaMikdash*. One can then reveal and bring to light all that transpired "in those days, at this time" (see note 2).

You know the commentary of the Arizal* on the verse: "These days are commemorated and relived." Each year, when these days return, they are commemorated, and thereupon they are realized anew, as the first time.

Every time ten Jews gather, the Divine Presence is revealed. Moreover, this is the meal of King David, who lives forever. May Hashem therefore grant that one be inspired to intensify one's engagement in our Torah*, the Torah* of life, and in its mitzvos*. And may this inspiration extend through the coming days, in peace.

הנה מוכשרים ומסוגלים הימים דחודש כסלו, הוא חודש הנסים וימי חנוכה וגמר-מלאכת המשכן ויסודו דבית המקדש השני, להמשיך ולהשפיע מהענינים שנתרחשו בימים ההם בזמן הזה.

וכידוע פירוש האריז"ל עה"פ הימים האלה נזכרים ונעשים, אשר בכל שנה ושנה לתקופת הימים האלו כשנזכרים - אזי גם - ונעשים ונמשכים הענינים כאשר בפעם הראשונה.

ויהי רצון אשר באסיפת כו"כ מבני ישראל דאכל בי' עשרה שכינתא שריא ובסעודתא דדוד מלך ישראל חי וקיים, יתעוררו בהוספה בעניני תורתנו תורת חיים ומצותי', ותומשך ההתעוררות על הימים הבאים לקראתנו לשלום.
