To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Daniel (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of 27 MarCheshvan*, in which I read that, in general, you devote yourself to the communal affairs of the chassidim* — not only with regard to the rite of prayer, but also to the dissemination of the wellsprings of Chassidus*, its customs and practices.

You know the saying of the Alter Rebbe* (see note 2), that Chassidus* is addressed to all Jews and not merely to a particular class or group among them. And nothing can withstand determination (see note 3).

You ask me about the possible acquisition of a building for the synagogue, while you possess only half the required sum. In accordance with the practice in the Holy Land, a purchase can indeed be made under these conditions, even if one possesses somewhat less than half the price. Moreover, one can tell the members of the community that the income of the synagogue will be devoted, in large part or even entirely, to the repayment of this debt. This commitment will make the discussions easier.

Although you say nothing about it, I have good hope that you organized a chassidic* gathering on this past 10 Kislev* (see note 4) and that you will do so with even greater festivity on Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 5), the Rosh Hashanah* of the study and the ways of Chassidus*. May Hashem grant you success.

I extend my blessing that for many years you give me good news of your personal concerns and your communal accomplishments, in good health, with breadth of spirit, and setting a fixed time for Torah* study.

With blessing to all the chassidim* on the occasion of the festival of liberation,

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מכ"ז מ"ח, בו ראיתי אשר מתעסק בצ"צ בכלל אשר זה נותן לי התקוה שמתעסק בצ"צ החסידותים, זאת אומרת, לא רק בהנוגע לנוסח התפלה אלא גם בהנוגע להפצת מעינות תורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי', וכידוע פתגם רבנו הזקן, אשר החסידות הוא ענין בשביל כל בנ"י ולא בשביל סוג או כתה מיוחדת בהם, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

בשאלתו אודות הסברא דקניית בית לבית הכנסת אלא שאפשר בידם להשיג רק חצי הסכום הדרוש, - הנה כפי הנוהג באה"ק ת"ו מתנהגים בכגון דא לחיוב, אפילו כשיש פחות מחצי המחיר, ובפרט שיש מקום לומר לבעה"ב, שהכנסות בית הכנסת ילכו ברובם או כמעט ככולו לתשלום החוב שלו, שהבטחה זו תקל השקו"ט עמו.

אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז, תקותי שעשה התועדות ביום יו"ד כסלו העבר ויעשה כגון זה ביתר שאת בי"ט כסלו הבע"ל ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ודרכי החסידות, ויה"ר שיהי' בהצלחה.

בברכה אשר רבות בשנים יבשר טוב בעניניו הפרטים ובענינים הכללים מתוך בריאות והרחבת הדעת והוספה בקביעות עתים לתורה.
