To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Shlomo Zalman (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letters, along with their enclosures. Although you do not specify it, you will surely find the opportunity to convey at least some points from the chassidic* gathering in which we participated together (see note 2). For the purpose of every chassidic* gathering is to affect concrete action — not only among all who participate in these gatherings, but also, through them, among those who did not participate.

How much more is this so for someone who exerts an influence upon a certain group, which grows ever wider. This is self-evident. And nothing can withstand determination.

The request for blessing contained in your letter was read this very day (see note 3) at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. May Hashem grant that you give me good news concerning what is stated therein.

I also mentioned the name of the chassid* who fears Hashem, for whom you ask what should be done to change his temperament — which presumably means that he is prone to anger. It would be good for him to study, with all the necessary attention, chapter 25 of the Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe*, until he has a thorough knowledge of it. The moment he feels himself becoming angry, he should recall in his mind the content of that text.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתביו עם המוסגר בם, ואף שאין מזכיר עד"ז בודאי ימצא הזדמנות למסור עכ"פ נקודות מהתועדות שהשתתפנו יחד, שהרי תכלית כל התועדות שתעשה רושם בהנוגע להענינים בפועל ולא רק עניני המתועדים עצמם אלא שיבוא על ידם לאלו שלא השתתפו, ובפרט כשהמדובר הוא ע"ד מי שיש לו השפעה בחוג מסוים ההולך ומתרחב, וק"ל. ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

הפ"נ המוסגר במכתבו, נקרא היום על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בהנוגע לתוכנו, כן הזכרתי את הוו"ח אי"א... שי'.

ובשאלתו - של הנ"ל - תיקון להטעמפער שלו, כנראה הכוונה למדת הכעס, מהנכון שילמוד בעין הדרוש אגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן סי' כ"ה עד שידע הענינים היטב, וכשירגיש שמתחיל להתרגש יעבור על תוכן הענינים במחשבתו.
