Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your express letter of 12 Shevat, together with what was enclosed. In general, when dealing with correspondence addressing technical points, one must consider consulting on the ground and seeking the input of several people. In this case, the text of the forms (see note 2) is indeed a technical matter.

Nevertheless, you have sent these documents here and you await my response. I therefore send it to you, advancing you ahead of the queue — including that of urgent letters. The first form must be drafted as a proposal and not as an order. One should propose to someone that he go to a certain place. He must also be told that if he cannot make himself available for that particular Shabbos*, he can indicate which one suits him.

Likewise, it will be difficult for those contacted to give their agreement before knowing where they will be sent. Furthermore, one may also fear that the agreement will depend on the person who accompanies them. Naturally, a person does not wish to form a group with just anyone. Sometimes it is precisely by knowing with whom he will go that he gives his full consent. The same applies to means of transportation. One who can travel by his own means should make this known sufficiently in advance.

You tell me that you are sending me press clippings, and this is presumably everything that was written. It is surprising that this needs to be pointed out to you. I have already made remarks, on various occasions, about the surprising attitude of the Chassidim*, whereby I receive news indirectly, several days before they themselves communicate it.

When it concerns joyful news, there is in this (see note 3) a deficiency in the principle that "you shall love your fellow as yourself" (see note 4), since in this way one gladdens a Jew (see note 5). And when it concerns distress as well, harm is very often caused by not providing true and complete information about what has occurred.

It follows that if, for any reason, these press clippings have not yet been sent, you will kindly remedy this lack by return mail.

(1) Rav A. H. Glitsenstein, of Lod*. See, regarding him, letters no. 4332 and 5288.

A first form was sent to the Chassidim who were to make this visit, specifying all details and soliciting their agreement. A second was then sent to specify the date and location of the visit.

במענה על מכתבו המהיר מי"ב שבט עם המצורף אליו. הנה בכלל במכתבים טכנים, יש להתייעץ על אתר ודוקא ברוב יועץ והרי נוסח טופסי המכתבים ענין טכני הוא, אבל כיון שכבר נשלח לכאן ומחכה למענה, עונה הנני על זה שלא בתור אפילו של מכתבים התכופים, ובמכתב א' יש לשנות מלשון של פקודה ללשון של הצעה, ז. א.

שמציעים לך במקום שהנך נקרא וכמו"כ גם להוסיף שאם בשו"א א"א שיתפנה לשבת זו בטח יודיע לאיזה שבת אפשר הדבר.

כן בטח יקשה על המוזמנים נתינת הסכמה סתם מבלי לדעת מראש מקום הביקור וכו' ולא עוד אלא שיש לחשוש שנתינת הסכמה תהי' תלוי' מי הוא הבן זוג, וכידוע טבעי בני אדם שלא עם כל אחד רוצה להצטרף, וכן לפעמים שידע הבן זוג יגרום זה להסכמה בלבב שלם, כן בהנוגע לתחבורה לכאורה יש להוסיף שבאם אינו זקוק לזה ויסע עצמאית מבקשים להודיע בעוד מועד.

בודאי קטעי המכ"ע שכותב ששולחם כולל כל זה שהופיע במכ"ע לרבות גם בענין הכתב ולפלא שעד"ז צריכים לעוררו, וכבר העירותי כ"פ בהנהגה המוזרה של אנ"ש שמתקבלים ידיעות מן הצד כמה ימים קודם שיש איזה רמז מאנ"ש אודות זה, ובה בשעה שבהנוגע לידיעות משמחות אין זה אלא חסרון מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך ע"י שמשמחים איש ישראל, הנה בענינים של עגמ"נ ר"ל יש לפעמים תכופות גם בזה היזק ע"י חסרון ידיעה שלימה אמיתית בהנוגע לענין פלוני וכו', מזה מובן ופשוט שבאם מאיזה טעם משונה לא נשלח עדיין קטעי עתונים מסוג ידוע בודאי ימלאו זה בחוזר.

טופסי המכתבים: בקשר לתכנית של שליחת כמה זוגות מאנ"ש מדי שבת בשבתו למושבים קיבוצים וערים שונות.. סדרנו טופס של שני מכתבים שישלחו לאנ"ש שיצטרכו לבקר, מכתב אחד המודיע שלשבת זו הנו נקרא לנסוע לאחד המקומות, בו מבקשים הסכמתו לכך.. והמכתב השני הודעה על מקום הבקור והיכן שהוא צריך לבוא.
