To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*

and carries out a sacred mission,

Rav Yaakov* (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter from the 12th of Shevat, in which you describe the Chassidic gathering on the day of the hilula* (see note 2), as well as the visit and the talk regarding the reunion of the former students of the Yeshivah* of Kishinev.

May Hashem grant that the words of encouragement and the resolutions that were adopted be followed by results, in all the areas that you mention. Surely you conduct yourself with generosity toward others. You will therefore attract additional people into the circle of those who receive your influence and take on your activities.

You know how the early Chassidim* interpreted the fact that the first mitzvah* of the Torah is: "Be fruitful and multiply." They said: "A Jew must make it so that there is another Jew." And they concluded by formulating the same statement regarding Chassidus*: "One must make it so that there is yet another Chassid."

With my blessing for success in all of this and to convey good tidings,

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מי"ב בשבט בו כותב אודות ההתועדות דיום ההילולא וכן אודות הביקור והשיחה בדבר כינוס התלמידים לשעבר דישיבה קישיניו, ויה"ר שדברי ההתעוררות וההחלטות שתתקבלנה תבואנה לפועל בכל אותם הענינים אודותם כותב, ובודאי עינו טובה גם בשל אחרים להמשיך עוד כמה וכמה לחוג השפעתם ופעולותיהם וכידוע פירוש החסידים הראשונים בענין שמצוה הראשונה הכתובה בתורה היא פרו ורבו, א איד דארף זעהען עס זאל זיין נאך א איד, וסיימו שעד"ז הוא בנוגע לחסידות, אז מען דארף זעהען עס זאל זיין נאך א חסיד.
