To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Reuven Tzvi Yehudah* (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you inform me of the purchase of your house and its definitive acquisition.

May Hashem grant that this takes place at a good and fruitful moment, and that you also acquire spiritual houses (see note 2), in accordance with the lengthy explanations on this subject given in the Chassidic discourses, in particular those of the Likkutei Torah*, the discourse "Psalm for the Inauguration of the House" in the Siddur* (see note 3), and the series of discourses "The Many Waters" of 5636 (see note 4).

In the most literal sense, may Hashem grant that it be a pleasant dwelling, conferring breadth of mind upon those who reside in it. In this way, all their needs will be satisfied, to the extent necessary and with a generous hand.

According to the well-known expression (see note 5), "the needs of Your people are many" precisely because "their perception is limited" (see note 6). And from this negative formulation, one can therefore deduce a positive one (see note 7).

May Hashem grant that it be so, without obstacle and without veil. You will give me good tidings of all this and of your activity in the domain of proper Chabad* education, which is the gateway to revealing the good in your personal concerns and to bringing elevation to the Torah and the mitzvos*.

P.S. I have duly received your letters from the 13th and 18th of Shevat. The house will be inaugurated with a Chassidic gathering, and you will know success, materially and spiritually.

במענה על מכתבו מודיע אודות קנין הבית והגמר שלו,

ויהי רצון שיהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת לקנין בתים ברוחניות וע"פ המבואר בדרושי דא"ח בארוכה ומהם בלקו"ת וסידור ד"ה מזמור שיר חנוכת הבית, המשך מים רבים תרל"ו בסופו ועוד, וגם כפשוטו שתהי' דירה נאה המרחיבה דעתו של אדם הדרים בה אשר אז גם צרכיהם מוזמנים להם ככל הדרוש וביד רחבה.

וכמובן מלשון הידוע שמרובים צרכי עמך - דוקא אם - דעתם קצרה* ומכלל לאו אתה שומע הן, ויהי רצון שיהי' כל זה בלא קישוים והעלמות, ויבשר טוב בהנ"ל ובפעולות בשטח חינוך הכשר החבד"י שהם השער להמשכת טוב בענינים הפרטים ולהעלאת התורה והמצוה.
