Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter with great astonishment. You inform me of your husband's discouragement. How is this possible, after having observed the wonders of the Creator, after having seen His kindnesses?

He should have, on the contrary, been filled with great joy, seeing that he advances in the light of the Face of the King of life, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He. Instead of this, he is discouraged, and it is clear that this is an intervention of the yetzer hara* (evil inclination). I have good hope that this situation will be only temporary, that it has perhaps already reached its end.

Our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, has given the assurance that when someone receives good, he obtains it for long days and good years. This promise will surely be fulfilled for you.

בתמהון גדול קבלתי מכתבה, בו כותבת אודות נפילת הרוח של בעלה שי'. והיאומן כי יסופר אשר לאחרי שראו נפלאות הבורא ית' וחסדיו במוחש, שזה צריך לעורר שמחה רבה שבאור פני מלך הוא מלך מלכי המלכים הקב"ה חיים, הנה תמורת זה יהי' בנפילת הרוח, והרי ברור שזהו רק מפיתויי היצר, ותקותי חזקה שלא הי' מצב זה אלא ענין עובר, וכבר חלף ועבר כליל, והובטחנו על ידי תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, אשר כל שמטיבין לו הוא לאורך ימים ושנים טובות, ובודאי תקוים ההבטחה גם בהנוגע אליהם, ואחכה לבשורות טובות בהאמור ובקרוב ממש.
