Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of the day about which the word "good" was said twice (see note 1). You describe to me the beginning of your activity within the framework of your sacred mission (see note 2) in various domains. And you briefly present your program (see note 3) for the immediate future.

You do not state it clearly in your letter, but your work surely consists of attracting additional students, even though this is difficult in the middle of the school year. Nevertheless, the experience in the United States, and it is no doubt the same in Toronto, has shown that there are always students, though few in number, who, for various reasons, want to and can change schools in the middle of the year.

Now, one who saves a single Jewish soul is considered as if he had sustained the entire world. In our times, the education provided in a school based on sacred values does not consist merely of accumulating knowledge of the Torah* and related subjects. In fact, the student's connection to Yiddishkeit* (Judaism) in general depends on it — whether it will be positive and proper, or... (see note 4).

I have asked the administration of the Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch* to send you, as a gift for this school's library, several books that it publishes. You surely have the catalog of Kehos* publications. It would be good for you to write to the Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch* to specify which books correspond to the age of the students and their level of knowledge.

I send you my blessing for success in your sacred mission, for considerable success, commensurate with the need and necessity of the moment. You will invest ardor and immense strength in the education of Jewish children based on sacred values, in the spirit of the Tradition of Israel.

נעם לי לקבל מכתבם מיום שהוכפל בו כי טוב, בו כותבים אודות התחלת עבודתם בקדש בשטחים השונים וגם ראשי פרקים מתכנית עבודתם בעתיד הקרוב, ובודאי אף שלא נזכר זה בפירוש במכתבם מקוי עבודתם הוא השתדלות להמשיך עוד תלמידים, אף שאפשר יש בזה קישויים כיון שעתה באמצע זמן הלימודים, בכל זה ראינו הנסיון מארצוה"ב, ובטח גם בטרנטה כן הוא המצב, שתמיד ישנם כאלו שמכמה סיבות רוצים וגם יכולים להחליף מקום לימודם אפילו באמצע הזמן של הלימודים אף שלא רבים הם, הרי המקיים נפש אחת מישראל כאילו קיים עולם מלא, ובימינו אלה חינוך בבי"ס על טהרת הקדש אין זה ענין של הוספת ידיעות בתורה ועניני' אלא שבזה תלוי כל השייכות של המחונך ליהדות בכלל אם לטוב וכראוי או וכו'.

הוריתי להנהלת המל"ח - מרכז לעניני חינוך - אשר ישלחו בתור מתנה להספרי' אשר על יד המוסד, מספר ספרים מהוצאתם, ובטח ישנו ת"י הקטלוג של הוצאת קה"ת, ומהנכון שיכתבו להמל"ח איזה ספרים ביחוד מתאימים לגיל התלמידים וידיעותיהם.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם בקדש הצלחה מופלגה מתאים לדרישת וגם הכרח השעה לתוספת אומץ וכחות עצומים בחינוך בני ישראל על טהרת הקדש ברוח ישראל סבא.
