Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 27 Adar Rishon*:

As you request, I will mention your name and that of your wife at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that the wish of your heart be fulfilled and that you have a child.

I am surprised that you say nothing of your increase in the study of Chassidus* and of the appropriate effort, given the necessity of the hour, to spread Chassidus* so that it reaches even the outside. Indeed, these two elements (see note 1) are linked, as explained in Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe*, under the title "a practice propitious for the birth of children," printed in the Siddur* Meah Shearim*, which you will consult.

You ask me to "give an order to those who listen to me" (see note 2). Such a practice does not exist in the house of the Rebbe. The One Who nourishes everyone in His goodness, with grace, kindness, and mercy, will therefore enable you to provide for your needs and those of the members of your family, from His holy and generous hand.

You are surely participating in Chassidic gatherings (farbrengens*) and in the activities of the Chassidim*, for the purpose previously defined (see note 3). You will increase your engagement in this regard, in conformity with the principle that one ascends in matters of holiness.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ז אד"ר:

כבקשתו יזכירוהו ואת זוגתו תחי' על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע למילוי משאלות לבבם לטובה לזחו"ק.

ולפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר מההוספה בלימוד תורת החסידות דא"ח והשתדלות מתאימה בהכרח השעה בהפצת תורת החסידות אשר תגיע גם חוצה, וקשור הוא זב"ז כמבואר באגה"ק של רבנו הזקן ד"ס סגולה ל(הולדת) בנים. נדפס בסידור מאה שערים, עיי"ש.

במ"ש אודות לתת צו לעושי רצוני וכו' אין זה נוהג כלל בבית הרב והזן ופרנס לכל בטובו בחן ובחסד וברחמנים ימציא לו פרנסתו ופרנסת ב"ב מידו הקדושה והרחבה.

בודאי משתתף בהתועדות אנ"ש ובפעולות אנ"ש לתכלית האמורה לעיל ויוסיף בזה כהציווי דמעלין בקדש.
