To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Yisrael (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

You tell me, at the end of your letter, that you are the rector of a Chassidic* yeshivah*. It is consequently surely unnecessary to point out to you the importance of spreading the study of Chassidus* and Chassidic* conduct in the broadest circles.

The yeshivah* is currently a lamp illuminating its entire surroundings, far beyond the role it formerly had in this domain. Now, yeshivah* students are accustomed to lengthy and detailed explanations (see note 2). Consequently, if one teaches Chassidus* in the form of flashes, sayings, and aphorisms that one does not explain, these students will not accept it in the manner that is appropriate, in keeping with the needs of the moment.

Consequently, it is upon the rectors and directors of yeshivos* that the merit and the responsibility fall to spread Chassidus* precisely in this manner (see note 3). Indeed, certain modifications have been adopted in the yeshivos*, in order to combat the devastating winds that blow in the street, from which every Jew must protect himself. This is self-evident.

...כיון שחותם שראש ישיבה חסידותית הוא, בודאי למותר לעוררו על אודות ההכרח להפיץ לימוד החסידות נוסף על ההנהגה בדרכי החסידות בחוקים הכי רחבים, והרי ישיבה עתה הוא פנס אור להאיר את כל הסביבה מכש"כ וק"ו ממה שהי' תפקיד הישיבה בעבר, וכיון שתלמידי הישיבות הורגלו בהסברה ארוכה ורחבה פשוט שאם לימוד החסידות יהי' באופן דברק המבריק פתגמים ואמירות בלי הסברה לא יתקבלו אצל התלמיד כדבעי וכדרישת השעה, ועל ראשי ומנהלי הישיבות הזכות וגם האחריות להחדיר לימוד חסידות באופן כזה דוקא, כמו שהוכרחו לשנות כמה ענינים בישיבות בכדי להלחם נגד הרוחות בלתי מצויות ובלתי רצויות המנשבות ברחוב הדורשות חיסון מיוחד של כאו"א מבנ"י, וק"ל.
