Greetings and blessings,

I was pleased to make your acquaintance, at least in an epistolary manner. I learned the joyous news of your forthcoming marriage. Indeed, all Jews constitute one great organism, so that the joy of one is the joy of all.

Moreover, Chassidus* particularly underscores the importance of loving one's fellow, so that the love of Yisrael*, the love of the Torah*, and the love of Hashem form but a single entity.

Furthermore, the joy of marriage has an impact on all generations. This is why the customary expression, which has been sanctified, is the following: "an eternal edifice." And the image of an edifice is precise, for it must have particularly solid foundations. From this standpoint, the opinion of passersby is of little importance.

The foundations of the Jewish home, for it to be an eternal edifice, are the Torah* and the mitzvos*. Upon them depends the happiness of the Jewish person, not only in its moral dimension, but materially as well. The Torah* is a Torah* of life, including in the literal sense, in this material world.

שלום וברכה!

נעם לי להכירו, עכ"פ בכתב, ולקהל הידיעה המשמחת ע"ד נשואיו בקרוב שהרי כל ישראל בבחינת קומה שלמה, ושמחתו של כל אחד ואחת בישראל היא גם שמחתו של הכלל. ובפרט על פי תורת החסידות המדגישה אהבת ישראל ביותר וביותר, עד שאהבת ישראל, אהבת התורה ואהבת השם הכל חד הוא.

וביחוד שמחה של חתונה, שהוא ענין של דורי דורות, שלכן נוסח הברכה המקובל והמקודש "בנין עדי עד". והדיוק בזה ג"כ במשל הבנין, שהעקר בו היסוד שיהא חזק ומוצק, ולא נוגע בזה דעת העובר ושב וכו'. ויסוד הבית היהודי המבטיח שיהי' בנין עדי עד, הוא התורה והמצוות, שאושר איש הישראלי תלוי בהן לא רק ברוחניות כ"א גם בגשמיות, שהתורה היא תורת חיים, כפשוטו ג"כ, בעולם הזה הגשמי.
