By the grace of Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

For a long time — specifically since the 27th of Teves* — I have not had news from you. I hope that you are participating in the activities of the Chassidim* and their gatherings, that your participation is in keeping with what it ought to be — meaning that you do not limit yourself to your own person, but that you influence your acquaintances and friends so that they do likewise.

Such is indeed the content of spreading the wellsprings (see note 1) to the outside. Thus, those who, for the moment, are still on the outside, not wishing to enter within, will nonetheless receive these wellsprings (see note 2). Consequently, they will ultimately desire to make full use of them and to penetrate to the deepest level.

All of this is important and the reward is likewise. There is no need to explain it in further detail.

May Hashem grant that you accomplish all of this with joy and breadth of mind. And you will also give me good news of yourself and your wife.

זה מזמן - כ"ז טבת - שלא נתקבלו ממנו כל ידיעות, ותקותי אשר משתתף בפעולות אנ"ש והתועדות שלהם, השתתפות כדבעי, זאת אומרת לא רק בגופו אלא שגם משפיע על מכריו וידידיו שגם הם יעשו ככה והרי זהו תוכן דהפצת המעינות חוצה, שגם אלו שלעת עתה בחוץ הם ואין רצונם להכנס לפנים יביאו אליהם המעינות, שאז סוף סוף יתעורר בהם החשק ליהנות ממעינות אלו במילואם ולהכנס לפנים ולפני ולפנים, וגודל הענין וגודל השכר לדכוותי' אין זקוק לאריכות. ויהי רצון שיעשה זה מתוך שמחה והרחבת הדעת, ויבשר טוב בהנוגע לעצמו ולזוגתו תחי'.
