To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and carries out a sacred mission, Rav Moshe (see note 1),
Greetings and blessings,
I have duly received your letter of 8 Adar Sheini*, in which you tell me about the students, may Hashem grant them long life, as well as about everything that concerns them.
No doubt, in the future, you will maintain this positive practice (see note 2). Above all, you should watch attentively over each of them. This watchfulness, beyond its intrinsic importance, arouses in the students a desire to conduct themselves well. Human nature, including that of the animal soul (nefesh habehamis*), dictates that it be so. Moreover, it is said that "as the face reflects in the water..." (see note 3).
And you know the saying (see note 4) of the Mitteler Rebbe* on this subject, according to which by proceeding in this way, one rallies two divine souls (neshamos*) against a single animal soul (see note 5). This is quite evident.
