By the grace of Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

You are considering a trip here for the coming month of Tishrei*.

In general, this is a good initiative, but only if this trip has a concrete benefit (see note 1), not only for yourself individually, but also for those around you, through the positive influence you will exercise upon them.

It seems that the young men who came to visit here previously did not do this (see note 2) as would have been necessary, but merely to discharge an obligation. One may therefore ask whether their financial investment, the time they devoted, and the study hours lost were justified.

If you commit yourself, with all your heart, to adopting this positive conduct and do not follow their example, if in preparation (see note 3) you strengthen your ardor and enthusiasm in study, the best possible practice of the mitzvos*, Hashem will grant that your efforts to obtain the necessary documents and your visit here be fruitful.

...במ"ש ע"ד נסיעה לכאן לחדש תשרי הבע"ל.

אף שבכלל נכון הדבר, אבל במה דברים אמורים שנסיעתו זו תביא תועלת לא רק בשבילו כאיש פרטי אלא גם בסביבתו ע"י השפעתו עליהם, וכנראה שאלה מהאברכים שביקרו כאן לפנים לא עשו בה כדבעי כ"א לצאת ידי חובתם גרידא, שאז צריך עיון אם ההוצאות שהוציאו (הוצאת ממון, הוצאת הזמן, ביטול הזמן מלימוד וכו') כדאיות היו, ובאם יקבל עליו בלבב שלם להתנהג כדבעי ולא כהנ"ל ובתור הכנה יוסיף בשקידה בלימוד והידור בקיום המצות, יהי רצון שהתעסקותו בהשגת הניירות והביקור כאן יהי' בהצלחה.
