By the grace of Hashem,

23 Adar Sheini* 5717,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 16 Adar Sheini*. May Hashem fulfill the wish of your heart positively, so that you study Torah* with ardor and constancy, that you fulfill the mitzvos* in the best possible manner, and that you pray with fervor.

Of course, all of this must be accomplished in joy, as it is said: "Serve Hashem with joy." Moreover, one can serve Hashem not only at the moment of prayer, of study, or of the practice of a mitzvah*, but truly "in all your ways." It follows that one must be joyful at all times, as various passages of the Tanya* explain. You should also consult the conclusion of the Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*.

The merit of devoting yourself to others, to bring their hearts closer to Chassidus*, will protect you, so that you achieve success in all that has just been said.

במענה על מכתבו מט"ז אד"ש, יהי רצון שימלא השי"ת משאלות לבבו לטובה ללימוד בהתמדה ושקידה, לקיום המצות בהידור ולהתעסקות בעבודת התפלה, ומובן שכל הנ"ל צ"ל בשמחה דוקא, כמ"ש עבדו את הוי' בשמחה, ועוד, ועבודת השם היא לא רק בעת התפלה והלימוד וקיום המצוות, אלא בכל דרכיך, שמזה מובן שצ"ל ענין השמחה תמיד, וכמבואר בתניא בכ"מ, ועיין ג"כ שו"ע או"ח בסופו.

וזכות התעסקותו עם אחרים לקרב לבם לחסידות ועניני' - תעמוד לו להצלחתו הוא בכל האמור.
