Igrot Kodesh · Letter 5311 — Tzedakah
Volume 14 · Letter 569
By the grace of Hashem,
25 Adar Sheini* 5717,
Brooklyn,
Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter:
A) Rashi*, commenting on the verse Bereishis* 28:13, says that Hashem folded Eretz Yisrael* under Yaakov*. You ask me where Yitzchak* was at that time (see note 1).
I am surprised by your question, for the verse states beforehand: "And he dreamed." All of this was a dream, and the Chizkuni* underscores this in his commentary on this reference.
B) At a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite (see note 2), so that they obtain the satisfaction of their needs. Nevertheless, you must send me, for each one, his name and the name of his mother.
It is you who asks Hashem to grant them these blessings, and you must therefore personally adopt the conduct defined by Hashem in His holy Torah*. You will influence your friends so that they do likewise. And if you truly desire this, you will achieve success in it.
In this way, the requests you formulate for these people will be granted by Hashem.
With my blessing,
Notes
(1) Who was himself in Eretz Yisrael*.
(2) At the resting place of the Frierdiker Rebbe*.
