Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letters of 11 and 23 Adar Rishon*, to those that preceded them, and to those that followed. You ask me, in particular, the following question: What is the will of Hashem and what must man do to discharge his obligation (see note 1)?

It is said that: "Hashem made man upright, but they sought many calculations." The manner in which Hashem made man upright is set forth in the Book of Uprightness — our holy Torah*, Written Law and Oral Law — which reveals the Will of Hashem, blessed be He, gives counsel for removing the doubts one might have, and for identifying what originates from the domain of holiness. This last point, in particular, is clarified by Chassidus* and by the talks (sichos*) of our holy masters, whose merit protects us.

As for what concerns you more particularly, divine Providence has entrusted you with an enviable lot — that of giving a good education to Jewish children, which is described as a sacred mission. You should therefore have no doubt in this regard (see note 2).

Moreover, you also speak of particular actions, in specific domains, for which one can indeed envision several possibilities. It seems that you are alluding to your communal activities in addition to your teaching functions, or else to your duties toward your wife and children. It is precisely regarding this that it has been said: "If a man has a worry in his heart, let him speak of it." And you know the saying (see note 3) of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, according to which one thereby rallies two divine souls (neshamos*) against a single animal soul (nefesh habehamis*).

But above all, one should, as I was saying, not "seek many calculations." Proceed in a peaceful manner and with integrity! In most cases, the Shulchan Aruch* will be sufficient for you to determine what should be done.

You are considering moving to Kfar Chabad* and it is clear that one must first verify what your wife thinks about it. If she accepts it fully, it will be a good initiative. But first, you should visit the Kfar* together and observe the area. Indeed, there are several types of homes there. Likewise, of course, you will arrange in advance what will enable you to earn your livelihood.

No doubt preparations are being made for the days of Pesach*, which are approaching, and to utilize them in the proper manner, within the framework of the network (see note 4) and the youth of the Chabad* association.

במענה על מכתבו מי"א וכ"ג אד"ר והקודמם ושלאחריו, בתוך הדברים כותב השאלה, מה הוא רצונו (של הקב"ה) מה יעשה האדם ויצא ידי חובתו.

הנה כבר נאמר האלקים עשה את האדם ישר והמה בקשו חשבונות רבים, ועשית האדם ישר מבואר בספר הישר היא תורתנו הק' תורה שבכתב ותורה שבעל פה שבהם נגלה רצון העליון ברוך הוא, ובהם מבוארים העצות לבירור הספיקות אם מתעוררים בזה, וכן העצות איך להבחין מה בא מצד הקדושה וכו' וענין האחרון בפרט מבואר בתורת החסידות ובשיחות רבותינו נשיאנו הק' זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובהנוגע אליו בפרט, כיון שהשגחה העליונה העמידתו בחלק היפה, לחנך בני ובנות ישראל בחינוך כשר שמלאכה זו נקראת מלאכת שמים אין מקום לספק, ואף שבהנוגע לפעולות פרטיות ובענינים מסוימים יש מקום לומר לכאן או לכאן [וכנראה שכוונתו בפרט לעסקנות צבורית נוסף על עבודתו בחינוך, ולחובתו בהנוגע לזוגתו ולילידיהם שיחיו] - הנה על כגון דא אמרו דאגה בלב ישיחנה לאחרים, וכידוע פתגם כ"ק אדמו"ר האמצעי שעי"ז הנה שתי נפה"א נגד נפש הבהמית אחת, והעיקר כנ"ל שלא לבקש חשבונות רבים, וילך לבטח ובתום דרכו, וברובא דרובא הנה גם בשו"ע ימצא הוראה איך ומה עליו לעשות.

בהנוגע להסברא להעתיק לכפר חב"ד, מובן שלכל לראש צריך לברר דעת זוגתו תחי' בזה, ואם תסכים על הענין בלבב שלם, טוב הדבר, אלא שמתחלה יבקרו שניהם בכפר ויראו הענינים על אתר, כי כמה סוגים בדירות בכפר חב"ד. וכן יכינו מראש ענין של פרנסה, כמובן.

בודאי מתכוננים לקראת ימי הפורים הבע"ל ואיך לנצלם במסגרת הרשת ובמסגרת צעירי אגודת חב"ד.
