To the women and girls of the holy congregation
Shuvah Yisrael*, in Buenos Aires, Argentina,
may Hashem grant you long life,

Blessings and greetings,

I became aware, with pleasure, some time ago, of the positive activities you are conducting to strengthen Yiddishkeit* in your congregation and to spread its values.

I hope that, from time to time, you increase these activities, in accordance with the directive of our holy Torah*, that one ascends in the domain of holiness. It goes without saying that this sacred duty and merit fall more specifically upon Jewish women — daughters of Sarah*, Rivka*, Rochel*, and Leah* — who must lead the effort and endeavor to consolidate, more specifically, everything that concerns women: family purity (taharat hamishpachah*), the conduct of the home — particularly the education of children — kashrus*, and other points as well.

The Creator of the world, Who directs it, expects all of this from Jewish women, and it is therefore certain that He grants them special strengths to realize it concretely, fully, and with integrity. Everything depends solely on your determination.

Our holy books specify the reward that is yours. And it is for this reason that you also bear the title of "mistress (see note 1) of the house" — that is, its fundamental element, the pillar of the Jewish home.

Moreover, Purim* has just passed and the miracle took place then through the intermediary of Esther*, when all gave of themselves to preserve their Yiddishkeit*, even though Hashem had hidden His Face, as our Sages* specify. It is regarding this that it is said: "Hide (see note 2), I will hide."

And we are approaching Pesach*. Now, "it is by the merit of the righteous women of that generation that our ancestors were redeemed from Egypt."

May Hashem grant that each of you redouble in strength and ardor in this sacred mission, with calm and breadth of mind, with deep and genuine joy.

בשעתו נעם לי לקבל ידיעות מפעולותיהן הטובות בחיזוק היהדות בקהלתן והפצת עניני היהדות.

אשר תקותי שמזמן לזמן מוסיפות בזה, וכציווי תורתנו הקדושה, מעלין בקדש, ומובן אשר ביחוד חוב קדוש וזכות קדוש על כל אחת מבנות ישראל, בנות שרה רבקה רחל ולאה, לנהל תעמולה ולהשתדל בחיזוק ענינים המיוחדים לנשים, טהרת המשפחה, הנהגת הבית בכלל וחינוך הבנים והבנות והכשרות ביחוד ועוד ועוד. וכיון אשר בורא עולם ומנהיגו דורש את זה מבנות ישראל, בודאי אשר ניתנו להן כחות מיוחדים להביא את כל האמור לפועל במילואו ובשלימות, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונן.

ושכרן מבואר בספרים הקדושים, שלכן נכתרו גם בתואר עקרת הבית, שפירושו עיקר ויסוד בית ישראל.

ובפרט שבאים אנו מימי הפורים, אשר הנס הי' על ידי אסתר, ובזמן אשר עמדו במסירות נפש בעניני יהדות, בזמן דהסתר פנים וכמאמר חכמנו ז"ל, אשר על תקופה ההיא נאמר הסתר אסתיר.

ובאים אנו לימי חג הפסח, אשר בזכות נשים צדקניות שבאותו הדור נגאלו אבותנו ממצרים.

ויהי רצון אשר כל אחת ואחת מהן תוסיף כח ואומץ בעבודה הקדושה האמורה, ויהי' זה מתוך מנוחת הנפש הרחבת הדעת, ושמחה פנימית ואמיתית.
