To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Ephraim Eliezer HaCohen (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from Erev* Shabbos* Parshas* HaChodesh, along with its contents (see note 2), and you will find enclosed the receipts.

May Hashem bring to fulfillment in each of us, within all of Yisrael*, the injunction (see note 3): "This month shall be for you" — that is, according to the interpretation of the Midrash* Shemos Rabbah (see note 4) on this passage: "specifically for you," as explained in the Chassidic discourse (see note 5) delivered yesterday during the farbrengen*, based on a teaching of our Sages in the Yerushalmi* (see note 6) regarding the renewal of Halachah*.

May creation be renewed — creation that was brought forth from absolute nothingness, which is the opposite of matter returning to nothingness, as the Tzemach Tzedek* explains on this passage.

Thus will also be fulfilled the promise that "it is in Nissan* that they will be redeemed," according to the statement of Shemos Rabbah, followed by Rabbi Yehudah, who says, as cited in Tractate Sanhedrin 97b: "It is not with money that you shall be redeemed," as explained in the discourse "This month" from the summer of 5700 (see note 7).

Here too, a miracle will occur, and although "the man emits the seed first" — meaning that everything occurs at Hashem's initiative — as explained in the Likkutei Torah* of last week, in the discourse entitled "I shall rejoice," the child that will be born will indeed be a male. For the future redemption will be linked to the masculine element, as emphasized in Tractate Pesachim 116b and the Tosafos* on that passage.

And you should consult the Yerushalmi, Tractate Berachos, chapter 9, paragraph 5, which refers to a woman giving birth. However, the Bavli* does not concur.

ועי"ז יקויים ג"כ בניסן עתידין להגאל וכסתימת השמו"ר בזה דלשיטתו אזיל ר"י לא בכסף תגאלו (סנהדרין צז, ב) וכמבואר בד"ה החדש קיץ הש"ת וגם בזה מעשה נסים יהי' שאף שזכר מזריע תחלה אתעדל"ע (ראה לקו"ת דשבוע העבר ד"ה שוש תשיש) בכ"ז תלד זכר [להעיר מהירושלמי ברכות פ"ט הלכה ה' ביושבת על המשבר, ודלא כבבלי שם], גאולה העתידה שהיא (בלשון) זכר דוקא (פסחים קטז, ב בתוס').
