Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you describe your sacred mission — the preparation of the edition of Tractate Pesachim (see note 2), with comparisons between the various versions derived from manuscripts, a comprehensive commentary on the words of the early Sages and their explanations on this tractate, with notes and references.

May Hashem* grant you success, so that you may decipher the hidden and concealed parts of our Torah. Moreover, various points of this tractate have practical implications for concrete action, particularly when it concerns, as the Alter Rebbe* states (see note 3), a severe Torah prohibition such as chametz*. In this matter, the Jewish people have adopted a stringent position, forbidding themselves from seeing it or finding it in their homes during the festival. Now, several books of the early Sages dealing with this subject have not yet been published, as this text makes clear.

You should also see Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe, chapter 26, page 144b, and the Kuntres Acharon*, in the section entitled "In order to understand the details of the laws."

Very soon, you will be able to bring all of this to conclusion and continue to invest yourself in your study, in tranquility and breadth.

ויהי רצון אשר חפץ ה' בידו יצליח לפענח תעלומות וצפונות בתורתנו, ובפרט במסכת זו אשר כמה מעניני' נוגעים בהלכה למעשה. ומהם, בלשון רבנו הזקן, באיסור תורה חמור כחמץ שהחמירה בו תורה בב"י וב"י, אשר הרבה מספרים הראשונים ז"ל לא יצאו לאור הדפוס עדיין כו' עיי"ש. וראה ג"כ אגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן סכ"ו (קמד, ב), וקונטרס אחרון שם ד"ה ולהבין פרטי ההלכות.
