To Mr. Yitzchak (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you write that you have succeeded in forming, with a few friends, a Torah study group. Nevertheless, you are not satisfied with their conduct in various areas.

You should take counsel with the Rav and Chassid* of manifold accomplishments, Rav Azriel Chaykin (see note 2). He surely knows several of them. He will therefore be able to determine the best way to influence them. And perhaps the Rav of your city will also be able to speak to some of the others on this matter. In any case, you must not despair. One must try again — a second time and a third.

Thus it is stated: "You shall rebuke your fellow" — which means "even one hundred times." And you know the saying of our holy masters, that "an effort is never in vain." Naturally, the more you strengthen your own good conduct, achieving the highest perfection — addition and improvement being always possible in the domain of holiness, which is unlimited — the more easily you will succeed in convincing them. For our Sages say: "One heeds the words of the one who fears Hashem*." May Hashem grant you success in this matter.

You ask me for an explanation about the breaking of the vessels (see note 3). You will find it in various Chassidic texts, in particular the Torah Or* of the Alter Rebbe*, page 27c, and the Toras Chaim*, at the same reference.

You also ask me for clarifications about Rachel and Leah, as discussed in the Kabbalah*. Here too, you should consult the Torah Or of the Alter Rebbe, page 22d.

You ask me about the Divine Names composed of the initial letters of words. You will understand them from what the Alter Rebbe says in the Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah*, at the beginning of chapter 12.

Naturally, these concepts cannot be clearly defined within the framework of a letter. You should therefore ask Rav Chaykin Shlita* to study with you the Chassidic texts cited above.

במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אשר עלתה בידו לארגן איזה מחבריו וביחד לומדים תורה, אלא שאינו שבע רצון מהנהגתם באיזה מעניניהם. וצריך הי' להתייעץ בזה עם הרה"ח רב פעלים מו"ה עזריאל שי' חייקין, אשר בטח מכיר כמה מהם, ולכן יוכל לשער באיזה אופן קל יותר להשפיע עליהם, ואפשר שגם הרב דמחנם יכול לדבר עכ"פ עם אחדים מהם בענין האמור, ובכל אופן אסור להתייאש מהדבר וצריך להשתדל פעם אחר פעם שתים ושלש וכו', וכלשון האמור הוכח תוכיח ואפילו עד מאה פעמים, וידוע פתגם רבותינו נשיאינו הק' חזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ובודאי שככל שיוסיף הוא בהנהגתו הטובה בשלימות יותר ויותר, שהרי תמיד ישנו מקום להוספה והטבה בעניני קדושה שהם בלי גבולים, יצליח יותר בהשפעתו על הנ"ל, וכמאמר רז"ל כל מי שיש בו יראת שמים דבריו נשמעים, והשי"ת יצליחו.

במ"ש ביאור ענין דשבירת הכלים, - מבואר בכמה מקומות בתורת החסידות, ומהם בתורה אור לרבנו הזקן דף כז, ג, ובתורת חיים שם ועוד.

כן במ"ש ביאור הענין, דרחל ולאה המובא בקבלה, גם בזה יעיין בס' תורה אור לרבנו הזקן דף כב, ד, ועוד.

גם מה ששואל מהו ענין השמות היוצאים מראשי תיבות, מבואר זה ע"פ מ"ש רבנו הזקן בשער היחוד והאמונה ריש פרק י"ב.

מובן כי אין מקום ביאור מספיק לענינים כאלו במכתבים, ויבקש את הרב חייקין שליט"א שילמוד עמו במקומות האמורים ושם בארה.
