To the students of the vocational school of Kfar Chabad*,
may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received, in recent days, the table that you manufactured and of which you can be proud. Some time ago, I had also received your candelabrum.

In considering these objects, in observing them, I have good hope that you are doing everything in your power to acquire a table and a candelabrum that are good and solid. For these objects allude to the material and spiritual dimensions, according to a well-known teaching of our Sages, according to which "one who wishes to deepen his wisdom should turn toward the south, and one who wishes to be rich should turn toward the north. Indeed, the table was in the north and the candelabrum in the south."

For students of a yeshivah* or a school, the material — the table — designates the concrete practice of the mitzvos*, whereas the spiritual — the candelabrum — is the study of the Torah*, the Wisdom of the Holy One, blessed be He.

Referring to the study of the Torah and the practice of the mitzvos in the best manner, to their sanctity, our Sages say: "If you make efforts, they will be crowned with success." Furthermore, they give the assurance that "if one sanctifies oneself slightly here below, one receives immense sanctity from above."

You have the merit of finding yourselves in a yeshivah in which are united the revealed part of the Torah — its body — and its hidden, profound teaching — its soul. May Hashem therefore grant that you be in good physical and moral health, that you intensify your study of the Torah with constancy and ardor, your practice of the mitzvos in the best manner. He Who gives the Torah and the mitzvos will bless you, as well as all your families, materially and spiritually.

ימים אלו נתקבל השולחן מעשי ידם להתפאר, נוסף על המנורה שעשוה,

שנתקבלה לפני זמן.

ובהביטי ובהתבונני על כלים אלו, תקותי חזקה אשר עושים הם ככל התלוי בהם בשני הקוים דשולחן ומנורה טובים ומשוכללים, ז.א. הגשמיות והרוחניות, וע"פ מאמר רז"ל הידוע, הרוצה שיחכים ידרים ושיעשיר יצפין, וסימנך שלחן בצפון ומנורה בדרום.

אשר בעניני תלמידי ישיבה ובית ספר, הגשמיות והשולחן זהו קיום המצות שתלוים הם בענינים גשמים, והרוחניות והמנורה זהו לימוד התורה חכמתו של הקב"ה.

ובשניהם הן בלימוד התורה והידור בקיום המצות וקדושתן, אמרו חכמינו ז"ל יגעת ומצאת ובתוספת הבטחה, אדם מקדש עצמו מעט מלמטה מקדשין אותו הרבה מלמעלה.

וכיון שזכו שלומדים הם בישיבה בה מתאחדים נגלה דתורה, גופא דאורייתא, ונסתר דתורה פנימיות התורה נשמתא דאורייתא, יהי רצון אשר בריאים יהיו בגופם וכן בנשמתם, ויוסיפו בלימוד התורה בהתמדה ובשקידה ובקיום המצות בהידור, ונותן התורה והמצוה יברכם ואת כל משפחתם מנפש ועד בשר.
