Greetings and blessings,

I am very surprised and astonished to have no news from you since your marriage. I have, however, good hope that you are putting into practice the injunction according to which each day must possess its own content, particularly regarding the spreading of the wellsprings (see note 1) outward, within the framework of the young people of the Chabad association. No doubt you are writing to me about all of this with the necessary detail.

You will also tell me how the wedding and the seven days of celebration that followed it went. Certainly, one may think that before, during, and after the wedding, one has more numerous occupations. However, a sensible person does not wish to be diverted from the accomplishments to which allusion was made. He does not allow these occupations or even the mere knowledge that they exist to place him in such a situation — quite the contrary. This is self-evident.

You should also consult the Laws of Torah Study of the Alter Rebbe*, at the beginning of chapter 3. Indeed, even after marriage, you can still continue your studies for two or three years without being disturbed.

לפלא גדול ולמי', אשר מעת חתונתו אין ממנו כל ידיעות, אף שתקותי חזקה שממלא הציווי של יומא ויומא צריך להיות עביד עבידתי', ובפרט במסגרת דהפצת המעינות חוצה ובמסגרת צעירי אגו"ח. ובודאי יכתוב בפרטיות הדרושה בכל הנ"ל, וכן איך עברו ימי החתונה ושבעת ימי המשתה. ואף שיש מקום לומר שהימים דלפני החתונה כמו של החתונה ואחרי' - טרדה נוספת בהם, מובן שאדם השכלי אין צריך וגם אין יכול להניח לטרדות הנ"ל לבלבלו מפעולות האמורות, ואפילו מההודעה אודתם ואדרבה, וק"ל. עיין ג"כ הלכות ת"ת לרבנו הזקן רפ"ג, כי גם אחרי הנשואין יכול ללמוד ב' או ג' שנים בלי טרדה גדולה כו'.
